Pain Meds Question | Arthritis Information

So... I re-read the leaflet that came with my meds I got today and was reading the Darvocet N-100 leaflet and it said it was for mild-moderate pain.

My question is...

If it does not do much for my pain, does that mean I do not have mild-moderate pain at that time?

It just struck me funny that was all, and would explain alot about the pain meds not working like I think they should work.
Im my opinion Joonie, with the level of pain that you have, you need something that is prescribed for moderate to severe pain. I don't know that Darvocet N-100 is going to do much for you at all...I think it's weaker than Ultram, and Ultram doesn't do a thing for me.

I started on Darvocet N-100.  They actually helped  for a few months.  I don't know if I built a tolerance quickly, or if the pain got worse, but at two months into them, I ended up calling my RD begging for something else.  He gave me Lortab and I could tell a huge difference between the two.

Darvocet has been shown in double-blind studies to be no more effective against pain than the equivalent amount of plain acetaminophen in the Darvocet tabs.  Propoxyphene (the opiate in Darvocet) has all of the risks and little, if any, benefit (unless you want a bit of a buzz with your tylenol).  It has a narrow therapeutic range, which means it's relatively easy to OD on it.
