remission? | Arthritis Information

Hi all! I've been following this board for close to ten years now and have gleaned new and different opinions and ideas from all of you. Ok, in a nutshell. Quit taking mtx (10 x 2.5) last summer when I started an active exercise routine. Did not have one flair up and just a bit of  scaling on my knees for over a year now. Went and saw my rheumy last month and  he congratulated me on my remission. Last month PA came back w/ a purpose in my left thumb and fingers (bad) and my toes. Immediately started mtx and already can feel it in my workouts. Tired and not productive. Still no change in pain. Any idea how I went so long without meds and anything else I could try in order to stay active and not feel so stinkin tired. Thanks. Hi and welcome to the forum.  Ten years is a long time to lurk!!  I don't know what to tell you because we're all different.  My RD thought I was in clinical remission this past year and once I had MRIs done of my fingers and wrists they showed synovial fluid and additional erosions.  So while they thought I was in remission I truly wasn't.  That's the RA part.  With PsA I've never been in remission.  I've continued to have finger and tendon issues.  Has your RD suggested that you start Enbrel along with MXT or Sulfasalazine?  You may need to add a biologic or another dmard.  All you can do right now is stay as active as possible and wait for MXT to start working again.  Take care and keep us posted.
