Anyone taking Remicade & MTX | Arthritis Information

Hi All...I will be receiving my first infusion of remicade on Monday, however I usually take my mtx on Sunday evening.  Do you know if it's ok to take them that close together?  I am not sure that I can reach my rheumy on a Sunday.  I know, I know, I should have asked her a while ago.  Help and thanks....... I Take both, don't think there will be a problem, the Rd has never told me I shoudn't.Good Luck..by the way the infusions have never been a problem for me.. The first one gave me a burst of energy! now sometimes it will make me a little tired.. but it has really helped :-)Thank you Janlee, that's encouraging!  Happy Sunday....... Hi GG and Janlee!  I was just wondering how bad you still were physically when your Rheumatologists decided to put you on Remicade.  I know my rheumatologist is considering it.  I am currently on 15 mg methotrexate, 5 mg prednisone, and 400 plaquenil.  I still have some swelling in my knuckles and wrists.  My joints still ache (but I'm not sure why - maybe its some of the meds.)  My numbers still show some inflammation, too.  I am not sure if I should increase the methotrexate or start on Remicade.  Any thoughts?  What dose of methotrexate are you on?  How bad off were you when you added the Remicade???  Thanks.  Kimpksmdrag, I was on 15mg of MTX when I started treatment, Rd increased to 7 a week after 2 months after a total of 6 months, remicade was introduced..my inflamation levels were down, but I was still having some pain in my hands & feet... I resisted going on the remicade at first thinking I wasn't doing so bad, but Rd really wanted me to. so I decided if insurance would cover I would give it a try. 1 yr later I'm not having hardly any pain.. I'm doing great.. in fact my treatments are 10 weeks instead of 8 and will be increased more as long as I am doing good..  something I didn't know was I may be able to get off Remicade if I can go 12 weeks without a treatment!!

I would increase the Mtx first to see if that helps, then I would consider Remicade Good Luck..

Kim, I would do the same.  In fact, I am going for my first infusion today & I will let you know all about it.
Thank you both for the info.  I don't go back to the RD until the beginning of Sept.  Depending on how it goes I will probably increase the methotrexate first.  I'll let you know what comes of it.  Thanks again.  GG, let us know how your infusion goes.  Does anyone know (have they advised you) what to do if you are away from the area when you are supposed to have your next infusion (like on vacation for a couple of weeks?).

Kim, I have no info at the moment.  Hopefully, I will find that all out today and I will post it.
