Ok has anyone ever had this problem with placquinil?  Since yesterday everything has looked of center or out of alignment. I ran copies yesterday and thought  I had put them in crooked. Well today it it the same thing. With new glasses or with the old even with no glasses all things look scewed? I hope that makes sense to soemone out there. I called in and got in to see the opthamoligist this afternoon but I am concerned. Can anyone offer any advice??  Thanks. nope, got nothing. Just wanted to say I am sorry you are having eye problems. I hope it is nothing serious and easily remedied.

Let us know what the opthamologist has to say!

Seeing your eye doctor is the smart thing to do. Also call your RD sooner rather than later. Although retinal problems with Plaquinel are rare they do happen. It is better to get this problem evaluated now than wait even a day and find out you are experiencing a rare side-effect.

Best wishes, Shug

If you haven't already been given the Amsler grid, go here to take a look

Please let me know what you find out at the ophthalmologist’s. I've been on placquinil since about July or August of 2008. Lately I've noticed some distortion in my vision but not things off kilter. More like there is something stuck on my glasses but it won't come off so it must be in my eye. If it continues, I'll be going in. Good idea to let you RD know about it also. Mary what you are experiencing  probably is something minor but you can never be for sure. You probably should go and get it checked out. In my case Doc checked me out today and it isn't the placquinil that's giving me problems. Come to find out I have a nasty scratch on my right cornea.  Dr asked me how I did it and I had no answer because I have never even felt that did anything to my eye like that. He says it must have hurt when I did it. Well geez if it did why didn't  I feel it?? So just how does one scratch one's cornea and not feel it???

Yes it is always recomended to see your eye docoter. Sounds like you went recently. Have you had the field vision test done. Just wondering how long have you been on Plaqunil? Say Milly if  you are asking me  I just had it done last week. That's one of the reasons my vison problems didn't make sense because I had just had it done and i was told I was fine.
I have been taking placquenil for 2 years now.

Oh I missed the part about getting to the bottom of things. Good for you.

milly2009-08-12 23:21:24I have no idea how you did not feel it. Usually you would have watery eyes or eye enough to drive you mad even if you were already on pain meds. Well if you did not feel it you did not miss anything except extreem discomfort. So I guess count your blessing on that one.Mom2three, I am sorry you have a scratch, they can sometimes be a long time healing, but I am glad to hear that the vision problems were not related to Plaquenil.

I look forward to being able to take it once again now that I know beyond and doubt that is improves the dryness of Sjögren's syndrome.

Heal well!
