Can Sulfasalazine alone help my PA? | Arthritis Information

I have PA for 4 months now. It starts in both of my palms. It's like needle constantly punching through them. Then it spread to my ankles and left elbow. Now 2 of my figures are swollen. I hope it will stop spreading. They hurts if I stop taking the Diclofenac Sod in the morning. My doc. only prescribe me the PMS - Sulfasalazine. From the posts here, most are taking more than one prescriptions. Wonder if anyone has good experience with taking this one medication alone.
My Dr. mentioned Remicade as altenative but the idea of needle in my arm for 2 hours is very scary to me. I am chicken when it comes to needle. The medication is also very costly at about ,000 a year. I really hope I don't have to resort to that. I hope the Sulfasalazine can help me. I was told it will take 6 months for me to feel the benefit.
The bi-weekly UV session does help alleviate my Psoriasis. It almost complete clean my upper body. But those on my legs seem to take forever to clear.
Billy, I'm not aware of anyone on SSZ as a mono treatment.  I'm sure that I've read that it can be prescribed to start treatment and then if no results another med. will be added to the mix.  Have you talked to your doctor about Enbrel injections.  It doesn't cost as much as Remicade infusions.  Google Enbrel and read the info.  It was one of the first biologics approved to treat PsA.  Good luck and I'm glad to health that the UV sessions have helped you.  LindyThanks Lindy.
