mini flare zone | Arthritis Information

That's where I am right now..

My left knee has swelled to it's flare size once again...

I guess not being able to take my meds for a month will do that.

I'm very disappointed that I am back to where I "was" in relation to that and a few other joints that are now hurting once again, when I had been relatively pain free prior to contracting pneumonia.

I guess it's the give and take of this disease...

Ah, I am so sorry to read this. Just a few short weeks ago it looked as if you were approaching the remission zone and passing through the tight control zone with alacrity.

What is the status of your pneumonia? Are your lungs beginning to clear?
Spelunker2009-08-14 07:49:34Babs, I'm leaving for work right now, I just wanted to take a quick second and say OUCH!!  I hope your flare stays mini and passes quickly. So sorry Babs, It doesn't take long for the symptoms to come back in full force if you're off your meds.  I restarted in early June after being off of them for 4 months and I'm still not back to pre infection state. Talk very long and hard with your RD about restarting MXT.

It's so disappointing to know that the symptoms will return so quickly.  I know how you feel.  Rest and take care of yourself.  You've had a long haul with pneumonia.  Lindy
thanks all!
I've already restarted the MTX.... just last night along with my enbrel.
I waited following the three rounds of antibiotics.  I have felt my pain level slowly increase in my fingers and hips first.. now this knee thing.... which is really making walking painful...in the inside and the back of the knee.... weird place?
I don't think I see the RD til September something (I'll have to look see)
RE: pneumonia.
PCP wanted an x-ray 1 week after ending antibiotics.... so, next week I'll have that done.. and see if he thinks the sinuses are still an issue...
I hope I can remain on the MTX..... I know it helps me alot along with the enbrel and I am the opposite of those who hate it...... I LOVE it and what it helps me with.

Hope it subsides soon. When we go off of our medicine we find out how much we really need it don't we? I flared when I had to be off of it too and I never regained the same level of comfort on my MTX. It's been 6 months- I guess I never will.Sorry to hear about your mini falre Babs.  I hope you get better soon!  HGWell, Babs.  If something good has come from your mini flare, maybe it's this......this thread has reminded me that today is my mtx day.  I thought about it earlier while I was not at home, I don't think I would have thought about it again if it weren't for you.  So, thanks for "taking one for the team"!!  Still hoping tomorrow is a better day for you :)

Babs, sorry to read that you're not feeling so hot   Now I am in a flare and have just started my meds again after my GP gave me a stern talking to.  I have an appointment with a new RD on August 27th and am hoping he will be able to help.

Feel better soon Babs and you are so right about Vitamin D, I went down to the coast for three days and was in the sun a lot and I feel a little better!  I have also started taking 800 i.u. per day along with a glucosamine/chondroitin/boswellia formula so lets see.

Hugs to you!

Maria
Babs,
Sorry you are not feeling well.  I hope things turn around quickly and I hope your chest Xray is good!

Babs,  Sorry to hear that RA is rearing it's ugly head again.   Hope it doesn't take too long for you to get back to where you were.  still struggling.... and I am so damn angry!

two steps forward.. ten steps back!!  ARGHHHHHHHHHHHH

trying to get back .....
...the RA waltz! I can hear the music playing and see the footwork involved to take those steps forward---and the back.

I send you all my good wishes.

May I have the next dance? Have been feeling so so but dropped to 1 (!) mg. prednisone on Monday. Friday night my hands and wrists started swelling and they are getting bigger every day. Rings have been off since yesterday. Got my blood work back from last week yesterday and I was within range for everything except CRP was just above normal. What does this mean? Do I really NEED 2 mgs. of prednisone. Was I almost in remission but now I'm out a week later? I've been pondering a biologic for so long and I one minute I feel it's justified and the next it's not!
I got the aches in the hands, wrists, elbows, shoulders, knees, groin (?) and ankles but it's not God-awful- just depressing.
2 good notes! I must have really had that gum infection because the WBC was like right in the middle range of normal and it had been 14.
My liver numbers- A-OK!

edited to add letters I left out in words wanttobeRAfree2009-08-16 08:53:50
of course you can have this two step!!  LOL ....
glad to hear bout the white cell count!!

I feel a smidge better... but my feet are still feeling like broken glass is my sidewalk....

I also get this weird rash thing bursting out all over every time I stop my enbrel.....  blister-like puffs full of itchiness..... burst them and they itch and ooze (sorry TMI)  then they are very dried out skin!!  weirdest stuff ever.  this happens on feet and hands.. but only when off enbrel.....
babs102009-08-17 09:06:14Glad to hear you are a little better- me too! I hate broken glass feet- so painful!!!! Hmmm that rash must be uncomfortable. I'm having a hard enough time with mosquito bites myself- yikes they are out in droves at our house. The cats were drinking milk on the porch the other day and I thought they were going to be carried off by them!Hey Babs, I sure hope you get to feeling better quickly. Probably should mention the blisters to the rheumy next time you see him. That's kinda weird! Seriously, feel better!
