Muscle relaxers | Arthritis Information

Anyone else notice that thereis such a small list of muscle relaxers available, as compared to pain meds?

I've never really thought about it.
What muscle relaxer do you take?
I've used flexeril for years now.
I take Robaxian. I do not think it works as well as it use to. I asked for a change, but she gave me one that did not have a generic. Almost half the of ones available I cannot take because they interact with a med I already am on, or because of my HBP or rapid pulse. And then that just leaves only a few that have a generic.

Does anyone know if there is any other med type that can take the place of a muscle relaxer for spasms or muscle tension?
Check with your doctor before you try it, but Valerian is a natural, herbal muscle relaxer.  My husband used it quite effectively after his back surgery, to help him get off of the prescription medications. Thanks! Will look into it and see what my RD says about it. Joonie, I used flexeril and skelaxin both for years.  The flexeril I used primarily at night because the doctor I was seeing said the skelaxin might keep me awake when taken late in the day.  I now use only skelaxin as needed.  Skelaxin is way expensive though, but I use my mail order drug service through our insurance and it is most reasonable.  Most of my use of muscle relaxants is for my fibro pain.

Yeah, I have tried samples of Skelaxin and it worked well. But I cannot afford the co-pay it is in the highest teir bracket and it has no generic.

I have tried Flexaril back in 2000. It did not seem like it done much for me.

Yeah, the muscle relaxer is mostly for the Fibro and for when my lower back spasms when my spine or SI joints are inflammed.
