vodka and RA | Arthritis Information

Okay just because all the pain is in my shoulders and neck today i think i need a light topic.(seriously RA could you just find a way to leave my shoulders alone, I mean really do you know how hard it is to lay in any position with flaring shoulders).

So I think i have found a link between vodak and RA. After a good 10 to 12 vodka drinks on Sunday night i realized i was feeling great. This is usually the case with vodka(absolute Citron) and myself. So I downed a couple more for a total of about 15 or so by 10pm: and then it hit me. OMG! Out of nowhere RA put up its protest and moved right to my shoulders. Are you kidding i thought. I was having such a good time and RA had to get in my way as usual. But i learned something. Vodka in moderation equal temporary RA relief. Vodka in excess equals complete RA hell.

p.s. for all interested parties i will consider testing this theory with other types of alcohol and send you my result Michael- you can keep your testing with the vodka! Wannabe will be very interested with your results!
I certainly can't put that much away but I too feel better with vodka!
Might be because it is an inflammatory, and it inflammed your joints? I know after I would drink a pint of anything the next day my joints would be swelled more, and I know I did not do anything as I am a lazy drinker

Anyways...

Seems like GREAT FUN! I miss it. I did not drink often, maybe once every 4 months, but I miss it sometimes.

Someone needs to mail him some rum balls! Those are YUMMY! Then he can tell us the results on that one, too.

Drinking alcohol should never be considered a treatment for anything, because then you convinced yourself you "need" it.  Drinking that much alcohol is very dangerous, and when done long term will have serious health consequences.

I would suggest you work with your doctor on finding a proper treatment program, and save the booze for an occasional treat!
Well I agree alcohol shouldn't be a treatment for anything. However some years ago we did have a good friend who was in her eighties and she always had this jar on her kitchen counter with raisins that had been soaked in vodka. They were plump from the alcohol. Said she had been eating 2 a day for  more than 40 years and claimed it was good for her joints and kept her from  getting arthritis of any kind.  Can't say for  certain if the vodka soaked raisins had anything to do with it  but she was  really healthy and spry for her age. [QUOTE=babs10]I wonder if you can get funding for this trial??
