i hope everythin goes OK Good luck, hope you get answers for all your questions. I would encourage you to not skip gym class completely, because exercise is good for your joints, and for your health in general. Maybe he can write a note explaining how you have good days and bad days, and to please excuse you just on the bad days.good luck.
I did not take gym class all the time when I was in school w/ JRA..... I had the "option" if I thought I could do it or wasn't in a flare.
My doctor gave orders that light exercises were permitted....
yeah that what i thought at first
that i would wanna do gym on days that i didnt hurt
and then not do it, when i was sore or somethin
BUT my mom sayd they probably wouldnt let me do it that way
and id either have to not do it at all or do everything
sometimes gym is fun
and im gonna miss it, a lil bit
but if i feel like i broke my ankle
then id defanitely not wanna be running a mile, or playin basketball
u know what i mean?
I hope your visit goes well, Star. We, of the RA family, often have to learn to live with things we don't like... like stretch marks. Happily, there are solutions to make such things virtually disappear and to maybe even help prevent. The use of Mederma (read about it here -
http://www.Mederma.com) helped my scars fade some what - not completely, mind you, but they are certainly less noticeable. I will be laying a supply in soon! Also, one of my grandmother's favorite to use (and cheap!) was coco butter, you should be able to find it at any drug store. You must apply either of these every day, several times a day - read the package insert for instructions. You could ask your doctor about the use of these products as well.
Waddie
ok im putting this here, incase anyone didnt see it in the other thread
ok
i did it, i got out of gym for the whole year
and he lowered the prednisone by 5mg, so now i take 25mg a day
and he sayd the stretch marks will probably go away, after im off the pred for a while
and he sayd ONE BAD THING, i had white blood cells in my pee
so he wants to check that again, to be careful, i guess
so, it was a good visit
oopsie's jus realized, we forgot to tell him about my sensitive teeth, oh well
its not that important, since the dentist knows...
Since you're skipping gym did the rheumatologist work on a plan with you to get regular exercise? It's especially important since you're taking prednisone.
nope. he asked if i was exercising
we sayd we had been, then stopped
(cuz remember i was using the stationary bike, until i gave up)
then he sayd ok
and he didnt tell me to exercise
he let me skip gym, no questions asked
nothing, he didnt ask if the pain was really that terrible
that it was an ABSOLUTE, that i had to skip it
i guess he figures that i shouldnt exercise
my mom sayd i should tho
cuz im gettin too lazy
