I sure hope things are going well for you.  By now, you must feel poked and prodded enough to leak water when you drink!  Have the good docs been able to give you any useful insight or direction... something to help ease your jaw and chest pain?  Is you son staying with friends?  When will you be able to go home?

Blessings and hums to you and your son, along with good wishes for you to use as you see fit!  I add my best wishes to Waddie's. I hope you went somewhere interesting and exciting for luncheon.  The trip to Duke ended up being a good one. First off---wow. That place is HUGE! And really well run. I don't think I waited anywhere longer than 5 min.

Really like the dr. He obviously had read all the info the other drs had sent. The appt. was almost an 1 1/2 long.

So-changes that came out of the appt. First off, I am off mtx. This is due to the CT scan of the lungs.   I asked him if the scan could have been misread and he said no. Definitely something is there. We will do a repeat scan in 3 months. If it has gotten worse-the mtx is not the cause so back on it I will go. He did say that he is very pro-mtx but it is much to high a risk to take at this point. He has added 3 other meds to take the place of the mtx. We talked about the jaw. He was impressed with the amount of swelling and lack of opening. So, he referred me to the TMJ clinic. They are supposed to call today with an appointment. If it is further than a month away, I am supposed to call him and he will email the dr. to get me in sooner.

He also spoke highly of my RD which was a good sign. He will call him today and go over the med changes. He is also changing the diagnosis to possibly JIA and not RA. This is mainly due to the age at diagnosis and eye involvement. I am currently being treated for scleritis by the eye dr. I also have chronic iritis. The lab took 8 vials of blook-crazy. He has not ruled out Lupus and wants to see the results.

So-good trip. I guess I'll be back down there for the jaw when that appointment is set.

Now---back to staff week at school. Good news! I am thrilled that some good came from the long wait and from the appointment itself.

Yeah!
Rebecca, what a great doctor!  It has to feel good just knowing more can be done.  I am sorry you didn't have much of a summer, but at least you got some rest and didn't have to worry about school.  You take good care and be careful that candle doesn't attempt to light up at both ends!

Good luck and happy days to you!

I was a bit nervous about the appt.  You never know---that doctor might have said "Why the heck are you here?"

I was away from my cell phone for maybe 5 min. yesterday. During that time there were three calls from Duke-no messages of course.  ARGH!
Sounds like it was a productive visit. Just wish you were feeling better and issues were put to bed before you have to start school already. Did the summer fly or what?
Best of luck that you get a phone call with resolutions.
