I have heard the same questions asked over and over about Prednisone.   So I did a little web surfing until I found a good website that had the best questions/answers on the "How's, Whys and What's of Prednisone.  Although the web page was written in the later 90's, I personally found it to be very informative and as well as the whole website.

Hope you all find this website as interesting as I did.

Good article but depressing.  Do you think 1.5 years on and off, mostly on is long term use?

I've been on and off of it for 8 years.   This time I've been on it for 6 months, and still on it...........

it worries me - but right now, I cannot work or FUNCTIOn without it.   I have kids to feed - I have to do what I have to do.....

That was, indeed, an interesting read.   Scary - for sure, but interesting, and I think it's good to know this stuff anyway.  My doctor never told me 1/2 that stuff...

Thanks for posting that!!

roxy...I think what they might mean is over 3 months of use and yes, roxy, it sure does make you a little depressed. Sometimes though, you need to stay on long term therapies, I know my husband does ( he has COPD) just to be able to breath a bit better.

I would love to live on it woobie, and I definitely know where you are coming from when you mentioned having to raise your children and need all the help you can get.

AND...Thank you both for saying you liked the link....Sometimes I never know if anyone really cares about the links to information, I put on the board or if they would rather I stop including them in post.  I am a firm believer in the more a person can understand about their disease's the better it is for you in the long haul. You end up having control of your life and not the disease's having control.

Toni

I love post referrals from the board Toni.  We understand each other's needs.  Keep em coming.  I almost always read them but I have the time being on disability.

What made me saddest about that article is it said how it accelerates aging.  I just turned 50 that is hard enough but to read pred is accelerating my aging process when I always felt so young for my age - well, all I can say, I WANT OFF IT

I talked to disability and they said they will pay half disability.  Now I have to talk my boss into letting me come back half time.  That is what rd and gp are recommending.  If I find any interesting disability facts while researching, I will pass them on.

I like when people show where they're getting their information.  People can say " i read somewhere " this and that, but if they post a link - we can search for ourselves and see that it isn't just hearsay - ya know?   And we can see for ourselves that the link is reputable.  It's important... I think.

I always read links - and search the sites.   We have to be our own advocates in our healthcare......... i believe that - firmly.

Thanks
Woobie
