My headache went from one side of my head, ear ache and stye in my eye to both sides of my head, stye, both ears, and jaws.  Get this, I havent slept more than an hour in days.  I tried every pain med I had.  Twice I took Lortab- it worked and then that didn't work anymore.  My hubby went this morning and bought me Excedrin for migraines.  Believe it or not, it really dulled the pain.  Spoke with my doc, said if I was not better by tomorrow to come in.  Took me off all meds except good ole pred.  I have no idea if this is ra related or not but I wouldn't wish it on anyone.  I hope this is a one time experience.  I have just been staying in a dark room, with a washrag on my forehead, miserable.  Makes my RA seem easy.

Best,

I am feeling way better but just realized I can only take Excedrin for Migraines once a day

       Hi everyone...

As I read alot of the posts I feel like the lone ranger as so many of you have such terrible pain and I feel soooooo sorry for you!! I have some sort of pain everyday, but I have gotten relief on plaquenil. My feet, hands hips legs and knees still bother me but the hips and legs ache more than pain. My muscles in the back of legs and hips and butt feel tight all the time and stiff. My feet and hands are stiff . My right foot is much worse than my left. Is there anyone out there that has a milder case of RA? FRom jan 2005 to Aug 2005 I had terrible pain and stiffness in feet, hands and hips and swelling and fatigue. It took a few weeks for the plaquenil to kick in.  RA is such a strange condition you don't know from day to day why you feel the way you do. Today hasn't been good. I had two slight muscle spasms in low back. Thanks for listening. pat

I've been getting bad headaches recently too, and I'm wondering if it is related to allergies? It was very windy here and I think alot of stuff got kicked up into the air. I do better when I take a sudafed with my advil to get rid of the pain in my head. caffeine helps a headache. i hope it gets better soon! Better.  Hopefully tomorrow even better.  Couch potatoe with a blindfold for three days now.   Just hear Brett whooooooooosh by once in awhile. Grilled cheese or P and B for dinner.  Don't want to move to much.  I think tomorrow will be better, today was - EXCEDRIN FOR MIGRAINES Be careful taking meds. for headaches. I get migranes..slurred speech,
throwing up, the works. I use to pop the tylenol, or the overcounter
migraine stuff. If you take it repeatedly you can get a "rebound"
headache which occurs when the med wears off. This is why some
headaches seem to last for days.

Now...how to fix the problem...I don't know. I know that his sounds crazy
but I'll take a really hot bath and put a bag of ice on my head. The hot/
cold combo seems to help. Looks kinda dumb though. The Dr. said that
I should not take anything for a headache more than twice a day.
Luckily--after making sure it was just migranes and nothing else, he gave
me a presciption. I have also learned what my triggers are so that helps
as well.

Good luck to you...I think headache pain can be some of the worst!

Excederin Migraine - I love the stuff.

I have regular headaches, and then I have migraines.  Excederin Migraine only works for TRUE migraines when you take it at the first sign... and it doesn't always work.

But it always works for my regular headaches.   But - I have had rebound headaches too - over medicating myself and just making it worse.  I've learned the hard way to let MOST headaches go without taking anything at all.

Here's an article about rebound headaches.

IT WORKED GREAT I ASKED MY  DR TO GIVE ME THE PRESCRIPTION FOR THE TYLONEL 3 AND NAUSEA STUFF AND BOUGHT MYSELF THE ADVIL IT IS THE ONLY THING THAT WORKS ANYWAYS...TERESAHave you ever heard of ultrasound treatments on trigger points in your neck to relieve headaches?

I have migraines and the KEY is learning your early symptoms. For me, I start to notice a hypersensitivity to high-frequency noises (like childrens voices, plastic bags being crinkled). For some it is light sensitivity, nausea, or irritability. All of these will usually come with the migraine, but some appear ever so slightly before you even start to acknowledge the actual HA pain itself.  My personal trick--initial symptom I take 600mg of ibuprofen, try to find a quiet place to hide out or go  for a little walk for about 10 min. and use a ice pack on the back of my neck.  If after 20 min no improvment, I take a Tylenol 4 (which is tylenol with 60mg of codiene-a Tylenol 3 may work for those who have not been taking codiene for long time like I have) I have Imitrex and Midrine which are both specifically for Migraines but I only have to take either of those 1-2 times in a year, because I can usually ward off the HA very early on.

Also, when you find what works, keep your 'supplies' handy. Car/purse/locker....if you are away from home without your meds, you will prob. miss your window of time to catch the HA early.  Early tmt and a quick destressing period really work wonders. A bit of caffine also helps most HAs.

For tension HA, which is not the throbbing HA but a feeling of having your head in a vice, caffine is great---a RX med called Fioracet is absolutly wonderful and heat works better for these HA. Also oxygen therapy works but you can't really do anything about that unless your at the Drs office or you catch up with Paw-Paw on his Rascal and sneak a few puffs off of his O2....hmmm

Some of the meds that were described in poopedpuppy's post (love your sign on by the way) lower BP. They are good for HA prevention but only are safe if the users BP doesnt run low ie 110/70 or in that range and lower.  Also one of the B vitamins and I think magnesium can be taken to prevent migraines. Different things work for diff. people, like any other drugs right?

use shirshuladri vajra ras.

one tablet thrice daily.

the most effective ayurvedic/herbal medication for migraine/headachhes
