Crohn's? | Arthritis Information

I talked to my Rheumy today about the bloodwork they did Tues.

When I saw her Monday we talked more about the vomiting, nausea, diarrhea and fainting than we did about RA and fibro.. She took blood for everything except pregnancy I think.

She wants me to go to the gastro, and talk to him, she thinks we need to look at the possibility of Crohn's.. That I am flaring regulaly from it.. I am at the tail end of a 3 day flare right now.. haven't eaten solid food since Monday.

I'm at a loss. Wondering if the antibiotics I took for the pneumonia (twice) this winter could have precipitated all this.. She said well, my good intestinal flora could be damaged, which opened up the bowel literally.. I had IBS pretty good in high school.. used to make mad dashes to the toilet just in time.. Had an open hall pass.. This feels 100 times worse..

AI.... the gift that keeps on giving. Fainting? Never heard that to be a problem with Crohn's. Do you have severe abdominal cramps, bloody diarrhea? I have had IBS for years as well only mine is not diarrhea. Mine manifests as severe abdominal pain, gas, and constipation. My last appt with the RD I found out that my blood work for Crohn's was slightly positive. Some antibiotics are known to cause the symptoms you describe but I've never heard of fainting being one of them. I sure wish you luck and hope you feel better soon!Kathy, sorry you are still feeling unwell. I am sure you have tried the BRAT diet, but maybe a week-10 days of BRAT with the addition of probiotics would help.

Fainting can sometimes be a signal that electrolytes are out of whack, and that is always a danger with on-going diarrhea and the potential for chronic dehydration that is inherent with GI distress.

It truly is always something. Best wishes, Shug
another fainting issue w/ diarrhea and stomach upset is a nerve that goes from the stomach to the brain..   starts w/ a "v" and I'm not awake yet.. to recall.

I'll be back when I've had more coffee
