I live in washington state, am a 58 yr old female who has always been active, ride motorcycles, walk, etc.

I was just diagnosed last week with PRM in all 4 quadrants and was in extreme pain--sed rate was 120---I was started on 20mg Prednisone last Wednesday, and there was no miraculous pain relief for me on that.  Of couse it was Labor Day weekend---so could not get ahold of anyone---haven't seen a neurologist yet---so lucky for me my daughter-in-law works in a pharmacy and the pharmacist told me to take 30mg.  That seems better---not 100%-- but doable, I think for now.
I am also on high-blood pressure meds and antidepressants---I also take multi-vitamin, Calcium, and D.
I have been having trouble sleeping---and last night I took 2 tylenol PM's and slept until 5:30.  Is it OK to take anti-imflammitorys or tylenol on top of the Prednisone?  I have never take so many pills in my life---but I will do what I have to do.
I have looked thru a lot of the posts here and it sure is nice to connect with others with the same issues.
I have only had 2 *meltdowns* but it is hard.  Hubby is very supportive but when I think of all the things I might not be able to do for a few years---it gets scary.
Are you able to do all the things you did before PMR with the right dosages of meds?

I am sure I will have lots more questions as time goes on---and I have a list to ask the rhumatologist when I see him.  It is only 3 weeks away and 200 miles---guess that is what I get for living in the sticks!

Thanks for giving me a place to vent.
Hi I am 40 and was diognosed with RA after my first child around 21.  I have been on methotrexate, predisone, celebrex and antiobiotics.  They really didn't help.  The predisone would help alittle then I would get really weak from it's side effects.  I have been depressed too and wondered what my future would hold.
I have the solution for you!!! My friends introduced me to a special drink called Mona Vie at the gym after they saw my knees swollen all the time.  I didn't think a juice would work but drank it faithfully anyway.  1 month- felt way better. Kept drinkin it 4 months later no swelling in knees continued to work out easier, could jump out of bed insead of limp to bathroom.  a few months later and now I am in complete remission.  Im serious.  I'm totally happy!!!
If u want to find out more about this amazing product e-mail me at JennyAaron2@hotmail.com. It has helped tons of other people with even little things like lack of sleep ect.  I am now telling everyong my story because of my life changing so much!!! Let me know if you want to try it.
Jenny, with all due respect, your sales pitch is not only in poor taste as a response to spacey's introduction, it is also crass, insensitive, and blatantly self-promoting. You, Jenny, posted in nearly every segment of the Arthritis Insight forum and that is SPAMMING at its most obvious.

I am sure that everyone who reads your testimonials are pleased that you found a way to remission, but proselytizing your money-making scheme reflects poorly on you and creates a sense that you lack veracity.

Pick four or five regular posters and send them a free supply of your product and allow them to post their responses to Mona Vie. For an adequate sampling of the products you tout as life-changing a free four month supply sent to the 4-5 participants would be a goodly start to verifying your claims and will give the rest of the posters on the AI site something to consider.

Cheers and best wishes.

My drive is about 25 miles less than yours so I certainly understand the dilemma of having to travel for medical care. I am fortunate that my primary care physician works very closely with the specialists and most often can manage immediately necessary intervention and "tweak" medications.

Brava for having a list of questions for the RD. Are you also keeping a daily diary/journal to record you symptoms and how your days progress. I have found such a record to be a mainstay in my ongoing treatment.

Again, welcome and best wishes. ShugSpacey

I fully endorse the posting by Spelunker to Jenny.

What you may find more useful to you is this website http://www.pmr-gca-northeast.org.uk

This website is run by PMR-GCA UK North East Region Support Group, part of a National Charity called PMR GCA UK launched in March this year.   On the website you will find guidelines issued by the British Society of Rheumatologists on PMR.

Here in the UK, we are advised not to take anti-inflammatory with prednisolone.  But I find on this site and another one, that people do not seem to be advised not to take them.

One thing we do over here is to advise people that before they buy over the counter medicines or herbal preparations, that they check with either the Pharmacist or Herbalist to see whether what you intend to buy is compatible with your prescribed medicine.

Good Luck and let us know how you get on and remember, whatever question you have, come back and ask it  - someone somewhere has been there.  You are not alone.

Thank you for your responce, Shug.
As to your question, yes I have been keeping a diary, so to speak, and highlighting things I want to ask the rhumatologist about.
I am feeling ok--not 100% but it is livable for now.  A little stiff in the morning but nothing like before. If I can get by on 30mg of prednisone and not up it, seems like that would be in my favor?
I have been trying to get some exercise in but I do notice a lot of popping in my shoulder joints---is that normal?  This is one of the highlighted things in my journal to ask the doc about.
I think the rhumatologist will be working with my local physician also, so it should save on trips.
My hubby was just diagnosed with diabetes so I am keeping my fingers crossed that the change in our diets will help me keep the weight gain to a minimum.  Only time will tell.
I am still in the *surreal* state--especially since I have always been so healthy--but I have lots of support from my family and I know it will be fine.
