"Normals" just don't get it, Star -- that's why I always reply that I'm "okay" to them when asked about my health. First, they don't want to hear about our aches and pains because they can't relate -- and secondly, well, let's just refer to number one -- they can't relate.Star - I can't imagine being a young man and having to deal with that. I know what it is like as an adult and get a bit frustrated at times. You are right that its wonderful to have people here that understand. I went to my rheumy today and I like him and believe he understands. My joints didn't look too bad but then when he looked at my sed rate he was surprised that it was as high as it was (although it isn't terrible). I try to just remind myself that my disease is between my doctor and myself (& people here). That way I don't get too frustrated. ITs like most th ings in life - if people don't experience it themselves or can't SEEit themselves, then they usually don't understand. Stay strong - we th ink you are doing great.

You will always run into people who aren't going to understand your disease. You are exactly right that this is why this forum and these people are so important. Even the people who we are closest to will sometimes wonder how we can always be in pain. The just don't get it. You are doing a great job at not letting people get to you, but I do think that you should talk to your Mom and let her know what it's like. I had to have a similar conversation with my husband one night becasue he made a comment about how something is always wrong. I said you are right there is something always wrong, I am always in pain and your attitude about it isn't going to help. Now mind you, mu husband and I have been together for 16 of my 31 years, so he just wasn't use to seeing me like that. Take care Star, keep coming here when you get in the "people just don't understand mood", cause we do!
