NOT IBS | Arthritis Information

Went to see my PCP yesterday.. The first thing  both she and the nurse said was  "Holy Sh*t!! Youve lost 23 pounds since June 22!"  Its a wonderfully informal office.

Anyway  yeah I'm sick.. It isn't IBS  because she said you just don't lose weight with IBS.. I have the runs, vomiting, nausea, and now abdominal pain that won't ease up.

I had an ultrasound today, looking at the liver, common bile duct and pancreas mostly. I have no gallbladder  but a lot of the symptoms are exactly like gallbladder disease. I had a bunch of bloodwork last week including liver  enzymes  and LFT  and they are fine..

A problem I have always had is that in general I get very sick with subclinical symptoms..  When I had my gallbladder removed NOTHING showed up except pain.. then on examination they found it showed long term inflamation.. no stones though.. So if I FEEL sick, I probably am, whether I have positive tests or not.. and because I know nothing will show up, I let things go til I am flat on my back..

Oh well.  they will figure it out and I can afford easily to lose another 25 pounds before I worry.
Kathy, I am sure that gaining a definite diagnosis that would explain all this GI distress would have been a relief. So---I am sorry you did not gain that relief. It truly is always something and all to often that something is elusive, illusive, and all to difficult to diagnosis.

You are in my thoughts and I send you my most positive energy for a resolution to this problem that has existed for far too long. Shug
Sorry it's still a mystery for you. The not knowing is the worst. Hope they find out when you get results from the tests and are feeling better soon.{{{Kathy}}}, you are dealing with so much!  I hope they can find answers for you soon and ease your misery!  Have they offered something to help you cope or ease this in the meantime?  Is a GI doc on the list of go sees?

Blessings to you and your family, Kathy, I know they are worried too!

Waddie Hello,
I just wanted to make sure you follow-up on this. I had all the same symptoms as you, it started in February and I finally went to PCP in May. She sent me for a CAT scan with contrast of my abdomen which showed a mass in my intestine, then I had a colonoscopy and biopsy, which came back as lymphoma. I am not trying to make you nervous, my onocologist told me people with autoimmune diseases sometimes develop lymphoma in the intestine. I have been undergoing Chemo since June which includes Rituxan. I was hoping it would help my RA too but it hasn't. Please don't worry, but make sure you follow-up.
