Could chronic infected tonsils play any part? | Arthritis Information

My husband was diagnosed with RA a few months ago.  He is on Methotrexate and Leucovorin (sp?) along with a load of other anti-inflammatories.  After coming back from a family vacation he was in a lot of pain.  His sedentary (???)/inflammation level was at 14 before...at the visit after vacation it was at 90.  So, he is now also going to be on Enbrel injectibles starting next week.

My real question, however, is about his tonsils.  He will be getting his tonsils removed next week.  The ENT says his tonsils have had chronic infection for YEARS...he said that is why he is so tired all of the time and that his body is constantly fighting infection because of them.  His ENT seems to think the removal of his tonsils might also help his RA to improve.  And I know we read somewhere that a doctor from long ago thought there may be a link between chronic infections and RA.  The rheumy doesn't seem to think the tonsils will change anything, but I am praying that it does and am trying to remain hopeful.

Wondering what your opinions are on this.

Thanks so much!
I have had RA for about 1.5 years and had my tonsils removed almost 40 years ago.  So, in my case there is no connection.  However, I would love your husband to find some relief after he gets his removed.  I wish him a speedy recovery and better health.
