http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=112966370What a deal!  Get insurance for half the price and make your fellow citizens foot the difference! <>This program came about because small businesses cannot afford to provide health insurance to their employees.  Unlike large businesses, small businesses don't get the price breaks of large group insurance plans.  In many states, small businesses employ a large number of workers -- these workers, often low wage earners, are left with no access to affordable health care. One could argue, if taxpayer revenues are used to subsidize public employees health insurance, than why not small businesses?  Shouldn't we create a health care system where people have access to purchase affordable health insurance?  The health insurance exchange, which health care reform legislation would establish, would provide a marketplace for the uninsured -- many employees of small businesses -- to shop and purchase affordable health insurance policies.
