I miss you all | Arthritis Information

Hi old friends,
I just logged on after a long absence and saw crunchy and a bunch of my other friends. I miss everyone. I retired on disability about 2 years ago but have been busy writing and illustrating children's books. My first , Signs of Jays came out in October. My second, Bringing Up Sophie is due out in January. Both are published by Jason & Nordic Publishers. I don't really make any money doing this, but it's fun and something I've always wanted to do. The RA progresses and I'm having more difficulty walking and the fatigue is a real problem. Luckily, my hands are not badly affected and I can still paint. In addition, I have hypertension probably due to the inflamation from the RA. I had a brain MRI a few weeks ago to rule out MS and am still waiting to see the results. The enbrel I've been on for about 4 years doesn't work as well as it used to. I get a few good days out of it, but it's a constant uphill battle. Life goes on. My daughter, Sasha, married a Brazilian in June and is starting her first year of teaching after finishing her Masters at Berkeley. She teaches 7th grade science and 1 period of art. She inherited all my old art supplies from my teaching days. My son, Jesse, works for the Screen Directors Guild in Hollywood and has a theater puppetry business  on the side. I do a lot of vicarious living through my kids. I try to keep up with my 70 year old husband who has a lot more energy than me. I'd love to hear from you all.
I don't know about this product but thanks for the advice. New friends are welcome. Hey Linda- I joined a couple years after you but I just wanted to say welcome back and it was interesting to meet you!

So glad to hear from you Linda.  It has been quite a long time!  Sounds like you have a lot of wonderful exciting things happening in your life!  I'm so happy for you.  I hope the MRI comes out with an "all clear" for MS.  I know it must be difficult waiting for the results.  I hope your meds can be tweaked or changed, so that you feel better.  No reason to stick it out with Enbrel if it is no longer doing the job!

Please stick around and be part of the old and new gang!

Hi Hillhoney and wanttobeRAfree. It's great to reconnect. I always find good friends and new information on this site. Seems like I have to be in a flare to plug in. I guess misery loves company. How are you both doing? Hi Linda, It's nice to see you. Children's books; How exciting!! I know that's got to be very rewarding. You must be so talented.

It's really good to see you. Sorry to hear you aren't doing better than you are....but that's the way it goes for a lot of us, huh? You sound like your spirits are high and that does make a big difference.

Hope to see you more often.
Hi Lovie,
Good to hear from you. Just got my brain MRI results back today and they were fine, so I'm relieved to not have MS in addition to all the other stuff: RA, fibro, sjogrens, OA, skin cancer and hypertension. The children's books are saving my life by keeping me busy and are fun. How are you? Hi Linda. Its nice to hear from you, sorry to hear things are a bit tough but thank goodness you havent got ms. Your books must be a joy to you. I love art too and am still managing to paint a bit, I would miss it terribly.
Glad to see you posting again.

Hi Mrs. Pincushion,
Glad to meet another artist. What kind of painting do you do? I am finally getting to do what I planned to do more than 40 years ago and it's a kick. I had to go on disability and quit my teaching job to have the time and energy to do my books. Now I write and illustrate books about kids with disabilities. I have to be really careful of my hands, but if I'm careful, I can do it.
