Thermacare heat wraps... | Arthritis Information

Just a warning for Thermacare users who want to save a few $$$.

I love Thermacare heat wraps and have been using them on my tendonitis elbow when I need on-the-go relief.  They work wonders, but at .50 or more apiece, the price can add up.  I thought I'd try to save a few bucks by using the Walgreens brand.  Waste of money!!! They barely heated up at all.

At first I thought maybe I got a dud - even the name-brand Thermacares sometimes have a dud if the wrap gets damaged and air gets in.  Nope - they ALL sucked.  I had tried two different kinds (the "small area" patch, which is index-card sized, and the neck/shoulder patch, which is the perfect size to fit completely around my elbow), so it wasn't just one batch that sucked.  They were only about 5 degrees warmer than just putting an Ace bandage around my elbow.  I verified this with a thermometer.

Hmmm..... I got one out and stuck in in my wrist brace and it was wonderful!!! I love my wrist braces and the air activated hand warmers are small enough to fit between my wrist and brace but put off plenty of heat and they are alot cheaper that thermacare (no offense to thermacare)
