So, I keep thinking that one of these days, my luck will change.  But, not yet...

I just left the ER.  I have had crazy muscle spasms down the neck, across to the shoulder, and across the ribs.  I made an appointment with my RD for Monday, and I was hoping to wait it out until then.  Just couldn't do it.  Just when I think it can't get worse, it gets tighter and tighter.  Went to Urgent care hoping to get an overall steriod shot, and they sent me over to the ER.  I don't have time for all this-Nathan is still sick and I needed to geat him from my parents to take home.  They really wanted to do a CT scan to check the lungs, but I am due to get one on Thursday anyway.  Dr. was very impressed with the tightness and gave me Valium to loosen everything off, and a shot torradol for the pain.  She offered Dilaudad, but I didn't take it due to the fact that I see a pain. management dr.  She said that they can give pain meds in the ER and I wouldn't be in breach of the pain contract, but I also had to get my son and wouldn't have been able to drive.  So, left with a prescription for Valium and hopefully will be able to tough it out until Monday.  The dr. did say that she was working during the days at the ER this weekend, so if the breathing gets more difficult, I should come back and mention that she would want to see me again.

Blech...going to try to get some sleep.
you've had so much going on...i hope things start to change for you, Rebecca.  Hope you and your son feel better soon!Hopefully the valium will help - it can be a wonder drug!  Also good that you found a sympathetic doctor who seems to understand chronic pain issues. Hopefully you will feel better soon. Muscle spasms in the neck are no fun at all. Prayers for you and your little one.awww rocckyd- I really hope things get better for you soon! Rebecca, words fail to express my admiration of your courageous journey through the labyrinth of RA and its maze of comorbidities.

My very best wishes for a STOP, an exit, and a moment of respite and repose for you and for Nathan.
Hi Rebecca, How are you today?  Sometimes issues come at us from out of nowhere and all we can do is take care of it the best we can.  The doctor in the ER sounds like a real jewel and I hope you go back if the pain worsens or you become more short of breath.  Lindy
