Migratory Pain | Arthritis Information

Hi everyone, I am new to forum. does any one out there have symptoms same or similar to mine. It all started on my 50th birthday, I lost my Job and was stressed, since then I get pain in some joints, sometimes the pain is in 1 joint ,sometimes in 2 joints,

The Joints affected to date have been, Left Hand, Right Hand, Left hip, Left Knee, Right Knee, Left Elbow, Left Foot, Right Foot and Right Shoulder.

The pain is severe and I loose motion, mobility of the joint. I get the problem every 1 to 2 weeks however its unpredictable. there is no redness and very little immflamation of the joint. My Doc has no idea and has refered me to someone else.

One thing I think is odd, when I have the pain in my joints I can put pressure on joint with little pain,eg: if pain is in Knee or Foot I can put heaps of weight down on the joint with liittle or no pain, However if I lift my Knee or Foot from ground I have extreme pain.I recently had pain in my Right Shoulder, if I supported my right arm with my left hand there was no pain, but if I leg go then just the weight of my arm causes pain. sorry to waffle on. bye all.

This sounds an awful like depression to me. See a doctor or psychiatrist for this. Depression causes these aches and pains and can be fixed with meds and counseling. Don't rule out arthritis but definately look into depression. Losing a job, a loved one, and even the gray winter months can bring this on.

I feel as happy as the rest of world I think, I am currantly on ZYPAN to help quit smoking, 15 days smoke free.

Why do you think depresson.?

Thank you for reply.

With depression you don't always feel sad or suicidal. Many times feelings are suppressed in tramatic situations like a death or even job loss. Aches and pains are very very common with depression. Especially if there is no sign of inflammation. The aches and pains could also be side effects from the zypan or even a mild withdrawal symptom. Good luck with the smoking. Let me know how that goes.

Hi teech,

It can not be the ZYBAN or nicotine withdrawal, The pain was present way before I quit smoking.

I still have not had a smoke.

I found your info very interesting prompting a search of  the depression board.

I have read about a form of arthritis that sounds similar to what you are describing. I am trying to remember what it was called....Polymyalgia Rheumatica...Maybe you can find out about it. Hope things work out for you----let us know

Hi to teech7 hope all is OK

All is well. My son has lowered his sed rate from 40 to 23 through an Inflammation free diet. The bad part is that his crp went up. He is currently seeing a chiropractor and reflexologist twice a week and an acupuncturist once a week. I read someting about a study that was done where crp was lowered by taking 3 oz of honey per day for 15 days. It was said to lower crp by 57%. I figure iif t is something that that won't hurt, why not try it. He will be seeing his rheumatologist in 2 weeks. Curious where his sed and crp will be. From my own experience it doesn't sound like polymyalgia rheumatica(PMR). With PMR the muscles are involved, too, and the pain is 24/7 without letting up. With PMR pain may develop in other muscles, tendons and ligaments but it won't leave the areas already affected without treatment. I do hope your doctor made you an appt. with a rheumy for treating any form of arthritis is difficult.  My prayers are with you.

John d, I have several rounds of diagnosed depression since age 28. At 66 I should be able to recognize it when I see it.  So much for the should have.  Last summer was a loser, after many tests with negative results.  The NP prescribed anti depressants takes awhile but when they kicked it I could resume life.  Does not cure everything, certainly did not help the arthritis,  I not only wanted to but had no problem getting out of bed where I had been 24/7 for two months.  There is an answer somewhere. Best of all to you. wanda

Hi everybody, I maybe closing in on the cause of my migratory pain which is now in my left hand.   ouch.

I went to see specialist in Adelaide today to findout results of blood tests done, two of the blood tests (according to specialist)  indicate to R/A.  The R/A blood test should have been below 10 however it was 10 times higher than normal, I am not sure of the other test that pointed to R/A.

The specialist said he is 99 per cent sure problem is R/A and has booked me in to get my hands xrayed, he said if present, R/A will be visable on xray., mean while I have more drugs to compliment my tritace blood pressure pills, as much as I hate Taking drugs my doc perscribed me PREDNISOLONE and MOVALIS

By the way some good news, lost count but I have been SMOKE FREE for about 40-41 days

Bye all

tteswod.  Congratulations!!!  I am about to embark on a journey to smokefreeville.  No doubt you will be getting my postcard, with scenic views like my pulling my hair out.  Just kidding, I have been the cold turkey route and currently being on welbutrin might turn out to be a short cut.

I know you will be satisfied having a diagnosis.  The only thing better would have been to not have had to go through the tests in the first place.  I will be having my confirming or not tests on Friday, probably poor circulation to my leg.  I have high cholesterol and the smoking as condition provoking conditions.  Until recently high cholesterol was the only medical problem I had.  If a weight gain of 15lbs in three months is not stopped and reversed the med clinic will add obesity. LOL  Best regards wanda

Congratulations on being smoke free!!!

keep up the good work

MY DOC HAS BEEN SAYING IM OBESE FOR YEARS APART FROM THAT IM PERFECT..I STARTED SMOKING WHEN I WAS 16 AND STOPPED AT 50, MY WINGING KIDS HELPED ME HEAPS.

I TRIED COLD TURKEY A FEW TIMES BUT MY MISS'S AND TIN LIDS TOLD ME TO LOOK FOR SOMEWHERE ELSE TO LIVE, OR CONTINUE SMOKING.  I MUST OF BEEN PRETTY GRUMPY COS MY KIDS HAVE BEEN AT ME TO QUIT SMOKING FOR YEARS.
