I am so scared of what is happening to me, I cannot tolerate any of the biologics or Dmards, except for MTX but only at a low dose so I am only on Pred and Mtx as my therapy along with pain relief.  My disease is always active, ESR is always high, CRP is always not too high but RD says too high not to worry about, considering the pred would be masking the severity anyway, my iron stores deplete rapidly and I cannot replace them orally, have to get it thru infusions, but what else can I do, I have tried even AP and that did nothing for me?  Now that I have erosions and consistent fractures that don't heal and I can't even work out how I fractured them, do any of you have any suggestions?  My whole life is at a standstill due to chronic pain and apart from RA a lot of it is from FM, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and degenerative disc disease combined?  Help please if you can?  Janie.
Oh Janie, I am so sorry! i don't have any advice for you, as the Enbrel has been really good to me so far, but I wanted to offer encouragement. Can I ask why the biologics don't work for you? UGH! I think I would be beside myself too, but hey....there is new research happening everyday and they have come out with a ton of things already. Something that will work may be right around the corner. ((HUGS)) Well for awhile had good success with a medication called Chloriquine Phosphate. It did not make me tired no real side effects. I did finally get a rash on my arm after a few months and the doctor made me quit taking it. I was so mad. I really loved that medicine. I actually kept taking for a couple of weeks until I had itched right threw my skin. Also I never tried the cyclosporine because my insurance did not cover it. It is an option in the future if I fail everything else and feel like paying for it out of pocket. So maybe there are meds that you have not tried.

It is teedious and frustrating finding meds for some of us. I have been there believing that there is no hope. We just have to keep trying. Surely there is something that you have not tried. Also for swelling not a cure but fishoil can help a little with the inflamation, it does for me. I wish so much for you. Prayers
Janie, i hope u find something to make u feel better!! its not good when nice ppl like u r in pain and stuff.

schell's right, they do research all the time, someday there might be something that works good, i hope so
