Please, I know this is super off topic, but prayers can only help...

You have probably heard of Morgan Harrington-Va Tech student who is missing.  I know this girl-great kid, awesome family.   Her mom even helped her pick her outfit for the concert.  She was reported missing when she didn't show up to study for a test with her dad.   She is part of a group of 9 girls who I taught through middle school.  You could not ask for better kids.  She has been missing for over a week at this point.  Very few leads, so many questions.

Please pray for this girl, her family, her devastated friends.  Please pray for answers.

rocckyd2009-10-25 19:00:08OMG- I had not heard about this. Prayers going up. What is wrong with this world today! I heard this on the news today Rocckyd. My thoughts are with her family. VA tech sure has had some hard times lately. Don't worry about the OT, this is very important to get out.
I was very quickly transported into the parents shoes and lumped up.
If thoughts can bring a happy resolve to this then you have mine.
Sending prayers for Morgan and her family. There are so many conflicting reports.  She was so excited to see that concert, but she left before they came on.  One theory is that somebody slipped something into her drink-just a rumor.  Somebody texted her friends using her phone stating that she would get home another way.  That same phone was found in the parking lot with the battery missing.  She wasn't reported missing until the next afternoon.  So much time passed...Her parents don't blame the other girls at all.  When you are 20, you don't think anything can hurt you.  They attended different colleges and went back after the concert.  Good thoughts and prayers sent to Morgan and her family. Hoping for a great outcome.Prayers for answers and a safe return. I am sure this has taken a hard toll on her family and friends. I just read that she went outside during the concert and was denied reentry by arina policy. Maybe she went outside to make a call and could not get back in. That is just horrible. milly2009-10-25 23:09:44Thoughts and prayers for her friends and family, How terrible .I have been following this story on CNN every day and my prayers are being said for her and her family.Sending prayers to the family Sending my Prayer's for Morgan's safe return.....This girl, her family and those searching for her are added to my prayer list.a parents worse nightmare...I hope it ends well Metallical offers reward.

I add my voice of support for this lovely young woman, her family, those searching for her, and for you Rebecca for you kind, loving, and responsive heart.

When you teach for a period of time, you do lose former students due to illness and accidents.  It never gets easy, but there is at least an answer as to why someone is gone.  If you make a conncection with a kid, you often interact with them daily.  Especially in a middle or high school where they drop by when changing classes. My heart aches for her friends as well.  They were such a tight bunch-even keeping that closeness when attending different colleges.  The picture of those 8 girls sitting together at the vigil was heartbreaking.

rocckyd2009-10-26 10:00:10My thoughts and prayers to you, Morgan, and her family. She is a beautiful young woman and we can only hope she will be found safe. Thank you for posting this - getting the word out on something like this any way we can is so important. So what if it is OT. We are here to help each other.oh my.. how sad ....  how scarey.....  how heartwrenching..

I will keep the family and you, in my thoughts and prayers...

Bump Prayers going up, Rocky! Hope they find her well! http://www.readthehook.com/blog/index.php/2009/10/26/sad-days-harrington-family-coping-waiting/#Hi Rebecca, I saw this on the network news, I cannot imagine the pain this family must feel.  I am keeping them in my thoughts, as well as you.

Waddie  This story is currently on Nancy Grace....I have been surprised not to see this story at all on my network news. I did go to one of your links and it's just heartbreaking. Such a beautiful girl...after all this time....I can only think the worst and my heart breaks for her family and friends. I haven't been on for a loooong time.  I was just checking in and saw this post.  This is close to my heart as my child is a freshman at Virginia Tech...a long way from home.  It is so very sad.  For those of you with no connection to Tech, it is such a beautiful place.  It's so hard to believe that they have been connected to such heartache.  LaThe connection was brought up right away.  Anytime somebody mentions Tech, there is a gut reaction.  Plus, the fact that it happened at a concert-a huge band.  Metallica is also well loved at Tech.  I am sure your child at Tech is familiar with the Beamer Bounce done to Enter Sandman at every game.  Metallica has stepped up to help with the reward.  The fact that her father is one of the heads of our local hospital system also helped the reward to become quite high.  These facts have all helped this story to gain national attention.  Her parents are very educated and well spoken.  They know that the media is their best friend at this point.

Many people are trying to blanket the I 64 and I 81  corridors with her picture in advance of the football game on Thursday.

I, in fact, have done the Beamer Bounce myself.  We went to homecoming a couple of weeks ago, and went to the game.  I'm such a bonehead, I never made the connection of Metallica and Tech.  It somehow makes it sadder. It is a terrible thing to be left wondering & I feel for her family & friends.

Thinking of them,
Maz

I continue to send my very best wishes.
Big search planned for this weekend.  I really want to help, but I don't think I am up for walking all day.  I might head up on Sunday and see if there is anything I can do.  It is just do hard to sit and wait.  Local news is that they are taping a show with Dr. Phil.  I hope this is true.  Her parents were very smart to hire a PR firm to help with getting the word out.

heartbreaking.........

I am keeping this young girl in my thoughts.
Rebecca, you are helping by spreading the word here.  I have taken this information and offered it to others on my email list, asking that they do the same.  I am disgusted with what goes on outside our doors... the abuse of children and women, but I don't know what the answer to stopping it all.  I guess we all need to be hyper-aware in our observations in looking out for ourselves as well as our neighbors.  Too often, we are afraid to speak up or listen to the gut feeling telling us something is not right.

I hope this family finds the answers they seek soon, and with it, some measure of peace.

Waddie   So many people are heading up to search. They had to hold to info meetings yesterday due to the large turnout.  They head out at 9:00 am today, tomorrow, and Sunday.  Fliers were taped to windows and

is everywhere.....COME HOME!!!
My thoughts are with you Rebecca, with this young woman, her family, and everyone who is involved in the search. I wish I could do more than provide thoughts... Just wanted to let you guys know that Dr. Phil was in town today and will air a show about Morgan on Thursday.
My son had a swim clinic at Tech on Sat. and they had a big Hokies for Harrington sign along the drill field.  If you go to findmorgan.com there is a blog just started today by Gil Harrington.  She is extremely well spoken and her words brought tears to my eyes.
Such a sad situation. I have and will continue to say prayers for her and her family and I will put this family on our prayer request list at church.

I also agree, what a well composed and spoken couple. I hope news comes to them fast.

We are still praying and waiting.  It would be great to have answers by Thanksgiving.

Below is a clip that showed a few days ago.  Definitely will cause tears.  How can there not be more leads???

State police say they are fairly confident  the remains found this morning are Morgan Harrington.

The skeletal remains were found in a hayfield on a farm in Albemarle County this morning.  State police say they are "confident" the remains are hers, but have sent the body to the medical examiner for further tests.  A farmer found the body Tuesday morning while he was working in his field.

The body was sent to the medical examiner for further testing, but investigators say significant items found at the scene lead them to be fairly certain the body is the 20-year-old Virginia Tech student who went missing during a Metallica concert last October in Charlottesville.

In a news conference late Tuesday afternoon, state police said the body was found in a very remote area of the farm without easy access to the location.

State police are treating this case as a homicide

I hope this helps to catch the person that did this. Many prayers for her friends and family. I am sorry for your loss Rocckyd.
