Ok this is new and optho not certain what to make of it. I have been having trouble with the blood vessels breaking in my right eye. I cannot find much online about it and was wondering if this was part of RA degeneration. Have growth ( maybe cyst), in back of eye, looks to be benign so I just have to have it all checked if I have more trouble.

Has anyone ever experienced this?

jodeDo you mean like when you wake up a couple of days before your son's wedding and find  a gigantic bright red blotch in the wihite of your eye?  That just happened to me.  Don't know what caused it, it's never happened before.  I never considered that it might have something to do with RA though.I have it 3-4 times a year.  My Doc says that it is due to dry eyes.  I have also noticed that it happens right after I take my mtx, which I understand dries your system.  I use artificial tears a lot and try to do it regularly, however I don't always do it.  I tried Restasis and that was no help at all, just very expensive.  Try the tears and use it as directed on the bottle.   I've had this happen many times over the last 17 years.  Of course it's never happened when I've been to see any of my doctors.  I did once see a doctor at a clinic years ago (I was out of town when this happened) and he thought it had something to do with the mtx.  I'm really not sure though.

One thing though that's helped with any redness or soreness I have with my eyes is voltaren eye drops.
Thanks for the input. Man oh man was my eye sore!!!!!!!! I have some drops I place in my eye 2 x a day...it seems to sooth it some, redness nearly gone, almost looks like a bruise. Guess I will have to look up some more stuff on it but it seems like I would almost rather not know! lol

Thanks again!

JodeLate to the party, but...yes, I frequently experience areas of haemorrhage in my eyes secondary to secondary Sjögren's syndrome.

I have both pterygium and pinguecula and either and/or both can become highly irritated and result in "broken blood vessels". If your opthamologist cannot diagnosis your condition, maybe it is time for a second or third opinion.

Best wishes.
This always seems to happen when I have to go on prednisone for short periods.  Is that just me?
