http://www.docstoc.com/docs/14785316/%5Bhealth%5D8-Choices-You-Must-Make-to-Live-Successfully-with-Chronic-Illnessthose were good..I think though that I would add a number 9.....don't be a martyr.  We all know who they are the people who show up to  function and do nothing but complain about how hard it is for them to do anything but they made a sacrifice just for you...ugh give me a break

Friends and relatives don't abandon you because you have a chronic illness they abandon you because all you have become is your chronic illness..life is for living
Thumbs up from me too!
..life is for living
YES! and thank you for giving voice to the sentiment.

#6, Reach out to another person...to me, at this time, at this point, and at this moment, that aspect of chronic illness has special significance and heightened import. I ask for support and, in turn, I attempt to give support (although I understand I fail as often as I succeed). It is my considered opinion that both aspects are important.

I am copying this article to have it for immediate reference. Thanks Lynn, as always, for your time in doing my research for me.
Absolutely thumbs up.

I know someone who is the martyr of all martyrdom. A paper cut sends her to the ER. I know that her medical problems are really quite tame....but she focuses on them in order to avoid the problems in her marriage. This has been going on for a decade that I know of and hearing her whine gets really old. I try to remain her friend because her married daughters who live close by have little, if anything, to do with her.  I've encouraged her to see a psychologist and she has.....and says that he says she's fine. Hence, no more visits.

Suggestions?
Lynn - Thanks so much for posting this! I will post it to another forum that I am on and know many will benefit from it! I also plan to copy it and keep it close at all times. Thank you, thank you!
