I know one of you is taking provigil---I dont remember who I read that from. I had forgotten all about that nifty drug untill I read that post. I asked my Rh. doc about it today and he said he didnt want to rx it since it is not in his "area of expertise". I know that alot of docs dont know that much if anything about it and I can't blame him for covering his butt. Have any of yall tried it or asked about it? I want to try it. If it is good enough for the US Military, it is good enough for me!!! Crunchy, I asked my rheumy about it and she told me that they use it for MS patients and a few RA patients.  Unless you have insurance, it's very expensive.  She did not think it was a good idea to take it for RA.  Just her opinion...

see, I used to work nights and one of the nurses that I work with got some and he was taking it so that he could work all night and spend time with his family during the day. I mean, it is intended to  be taken to stay up for extended periods, but you know, a lower dose or once daily dose could work wonders for us with chronic fatigue.  It isnt like speed or anything so I don't know why it hasnt caught on more...maybe it is just too new.

Crunchy, I tried it, but prefer not to use it.  I was using it because of overwhelming fatique.  A neurologist ordered it for me because I was having trouble staying awake in the daytime.  It worked, I was awake in the day, but then I couldn't go to sleep at night.  When I talked to my rheumatologist about it, he though a much better approach would be to focus on cutting the inflamation and getting more sleep so that I could be more awake in the day without taking the provigil.  That turns out to be a much better approach for me.  Not perfect, but better than using the Provigil.  Hope this helps.

thanks I am a court reporter and I took a deposition recently that discussed Provigil.  An HIV patient was taking Provigil for fatigue.  The doctor that prescribed it was an infectious disease expert, and it was something he said they sometimes give to people with autoimmune disorders.  The litigation was nothing to do with medications. That is the medication I was trying to think of.  Karen NTX raved about it.  I would like to hear more about Provigal.  My exhaustion seems to be getting worse but less joint pain

so I wont be so zzzzzzzzzzzzz....
