How are you feeling? What are you doing? | Arthritis Information

On the AF board they have a post called "How are you feeling? What are you doing?"

It's a take of Twitter and everyone shares what is going on...It can be as long or as short as you what it to be.  It pretty much stays up at the top of the board most days.

Here's the beginning of the thread:

http://community.arthritis.org/forums/Topic4223484-1831-1.aspx

And let me include a shout-out to Txnana for coming up with the idea Well, I'm a little stiff and achy today..Thanks for asking Lynn!
My sil returned last night from her trip to Hawaii. My niece and nephews were staying here during their parents trip, so I had 10 kids in the house this last week! Now I'm down to my own 7 and the house seems very quiet.
I drove on a 3rd grade field trip yesterday to a local lake. A naturalist took us all out on a boat and the kids were able to do experiments on water samples. The kids loved it, but for some reason it really did me in. Maybe it was the cold...idk. I was sound asleep by 8:30 last night.
How bout you guys? You're welcome Leila
I'm taking my brother grocery shopping this afternoon, then I may stop and get a pedicure

It sounds like you have had a very busy couple of weeks....
As some of you know, I shot a wedding last weekend and this week is taken up with cleaning out Julies mothers house because it has been sold.
We lost both David and Julies mother this year and going through their belongings and just dumping at the tip can be a little discomforting.
What could be used has been given to those in need but the rest has to be dumped, we just can't add more clutter to our already cluttered space we call home.

I'm spreading this over three days to make sure I don't run out of spoons.

To be honest I will be glad when it is all done as it has been a long year.

THIS is the thread I was looking for.

I wish we could go to Hawaii. I often wonder how big my hair would get. Haha! You've been busy Leila, it's no wonder you passed out early! I hope you were able to get good sleep and feel rejuvenated today.

Lynn, a pedicure sounds so nice. Were you able to sneak that in? Have you tried the paraffin wax? It feels great going on, but after a while it starts itching. Guess I'm not one for having hot wax and plastic on my legs for long periods. I had it done once and asked them to take it off early.

Wow, Bodak.

As for me, I'm doing tons better but am still sore and uncomfortable. It seems I get easily fatigued now which is probably a mix of healing from the gall bladder surgery and the RA doing it's thing. I'm hoping to restart my RA meds at the end of this week. My RD advised me to stop the meds until I've healed, but I don't want to get so bad from RA that I go downhill instead of uphill though, you know?
This is probably TMI, but I had my husband cracking up this morning when I told him about the baby wipe shower I had one of days during my hospital stay. I told him I was trying to find the right word... maybe ashamed? And after I told him the story, he suggested "violated." Hahaha!! I know it's the nurses duty to perform such tasks, but I really wish she would have given me a heads up before she proceeded to clean down there. We weren't even properly introduced!! No pedicure

That's okay though, it's a beautiful day and I'm going outside to play with the dogs Good to hear Waddie that things are progressing in a positive way. Waddie sorry about the eyes. I hate it when that happens. Have you checked with the eye doctor. I hope you feel better soon.

I am not feelling to badly I guess. Just kind of waiting and watching for the H1N1 to run it's course with my family members. So far we are doing pretty well. Tamiflu seems to be a great medicine.
Feeling pretty good except  my left   glute.. still can't exactly sit on it

Tried to take the kids to see "Cloudy with a chance of Meatballs" today but our little theater didn't have a matinee today.. shoot. He's usually open on days when the kids don't have school.

Had a very quiet day today. am doing some Freecycling. Hopefully I will be able to have someone take my sofa to my DD and then take her sofa for herself.. maybe..

I like this post... It helps to see positive things posted too. I notice when I'm too down or focus on all the negative things, it only makes things worse.

Waddie I'm so glad you are feeling better, I remember how scared you were to have that surgery.

hmm, what am I doing? I am at work, supposed to be working! I am going to go after work tonight shopping for my sons 13th birthday.  I can't believe how time flies! (flys? flies? sp lol)
Today is my 12 week anniversary with my much improved heart!  I feel better energy wise than I have in many years and I am able to do so much more without turning into a useless puddle.  The only thing bothering me concerning my chest is my scar - its a bit tender, raised and red, oh, and itchy!
Wow - 12 weeks - can't believe it's been that long!  So glad all that is over with now!

My first c-section scar was itchy for a couple years (but remember, I had 2 c-sections less than a year apart).  I know it's not the same place, but it's probably almost the same length as yours.  Quite annoying!!!  It WILL get better though!
Went to first PT appt yesterday for this damn elbow.  I'm under orders to be lazy for the rest of the week, and have the husband and kids do most all of the work around the house.  Also have to limit driving, since shifting the manual transmission really aggravates it.  I am seeing the light at the end of the tunnel - hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll be mostly pain-free and back to my 'normal' laziness!!!
I like the those orders, except for the driving part  Yea - I love driving my car.  Never had a 'performance' car before - a 3-cylinder Geo Metro ain't exactly a speed demon!!!!  But the transmission on the Mini is really tight, and driving aggressively with lots of gear shifting really aggravates this damn elbow!!! Today is my 12 week anniversary with my much improved heart!  I feel better energy wise than I have in many years and I am able to do so much more without turning into a useless puddle.  The only thing bothering me concerning my chest is my scar - its a bit tender, raised and red, oh, and itchy!

It is hard to believe it is your 12 week anniversary today.

My short term memory sometimes suprises me... but then there are things I really don't want to remember from one minute to the next!
I happy you are doing so well!  You are, in my opinion, a real blessing to this forum

I know this is off topic but it is so funny.  My young neighbour is out running with his lawnmower while it is trying to snow.  I wish I could move that fast.
Yea - I love driving my car.  Never had a 'performance' car before - a 3-cylinder Geo Metro ain't exactly a speed demon!!!!  But the transmission on the Mini is really tight, and driving aggressively with lots of gear shifting really aggravates this damn elbow!!!

A MINI COOPER! Well, I'm noticing there's no emoticon for jealousy...
I drive a full size ford van...seats 12.. sexy right? When you have a family of 9 and you'd like to travel together, at least occasionally, there are not an abundance of options. I can't drive a stick anymore anyway, now that I have the left knee of an 80 yr old. btw... 80 year old lady... I want my knee back!

waddie, I'm glad to hear you are doing much better! Lynn, I'm very very sorry about your pedicure-less feet. I feel your pain. Kathy, I'm glad your 'cheek' is on the mend. I haven't had a visit from mrsa in a while. I wish the same for you. SoCal Mel, your hygiene assault reminds me of all the indignities of child birth. With my large brood, it would be hard to find a medical professional in the state of California that hasn't seen my southern regions.

hilarious! There is a skunk hiding under my deck, taunting my dog and spraying just as often as it can... waddie2009-11-11 18:16:07Oh we had a skunk recently. He walked around the corner when I was out side. Yikes I screamed and ran inside so fast I tore the skin off of my hand opening the door. I must have scared him have not seen him scince.
There is a skunk hiding under my deck, taunting my dog and spraying just as often as it can...
It's not limitless like pee, but unfortunately a little goes a long way!!! Same here, but they have live traps that they will come set up on your property, and leave them there for a few days or so.  When something gets caught in the trap, they come get it and release it into one of the local forest preserves (at least that's what they tell us!!!). So they can still get sprayed or is the live trap closed? We got a new trash container and the skunk went away. Making sure there was no food sourse helped. Have you tried screaming at the top of your lungs. That seemed to help alot also.
So they can still get sprayed or is the live trap closed? You call them when something gets caught in the trap and they'll come out that day if it's during business hours, or the next morning if it happens overnight (more likely with a nocturnal stinkbomb).  I suppose if you were really mad at that skunk you could let him sit for a couple days, but I'd rather help him pack his bags and move to the forest preserve.
That made me laugh out loud...I vision Waddie standing on her porch and screaming at the top of her lungs... (personally, I would give it a try)

#1inflamedOnline2009-11-11 19:55:32OH my gosh.........Skunk spray is the worst...This happened to my daughters dog before they moved, they bathed him in tomato juice. It was awful

It supposed to to be another sunny, warmer than average day here.  I guess I'll have to do a little early Christmas shopping  Now this has got to be sad given we dont have them in our country and I believe I have Walt Disney to blame for my fascination.
I remember the first time I saw a squirrel ( In Italy I think..) I was totally entranced! Another Disneyish thing..lol.
I would love a smell of skunk, just to know what you all are talking about. Im actually meaning that and THAT is sad also. No?
But thinking about it, yes, I have smelt a skunk but we aint going there!

Something to be said about living in a country where there are no dangerous animals etc. Well, a wild boar may hurt you, and the Katipo spider can give you a heck of a bite but nothing else. And the Moas have long gone.

Its late, I need my moi. Nite all.

I'm feeling very well. I have been off all RA meds for about 6 weeks now due to a totally unrelated surgery that required me to discontinue use until I healed. I can technically re-start my Humira now; but I'm doing so well I don't want to. I'm really dragging my feet while I try to decide what to to. It's been so many years since I have been off all meds; I really can't believe it. What's everyones thoughts on this? Do I just ride it out and see what happens? Honestly, I want to just wait. See what happens. Maybe it's gone away! (K~I know that's a long shot, but don't we all go through this) My next appointment isn't until Jan. I see no reason to move it up at this point.

As far as what I'm doing? Catching up here some.....and working. Obviously it's a slow day here.
I'm feeling a bit confused this morning. Could be the 18 inches of fresh snow on the ground, but...i see two inflammedonlines above posting, are you one in the same?
I'm feeling a bit confused this morning. Could be the 18 inches of fresh snow on the ground, but...i see two inflammedonlines above posting, are you one in the same?
There are two of them - one joined yesterday and has just a handful of posts; the other joined in october and has about 60 (as of this morning anyway).  The second one probably used a special character set to create a name which appears the same as the other one.

Always check the creation date/post count.
I wish this board had more info on folks in the Profile. That might make people more open about who they really are - for example, where do you live?
People can put as much or as little info as they want in their signature line.  Personally, I choose not to show too much information.  I've been harassed and stalked in real life by someone from a local online forum; it's not pleasant.  The 'net is full of nuts, flakes and psychopaths.  Lots of good people too, but you always have to be wary of the lunatic fringe.
How's the stick stink this morning, Waddie?

I'm feeling pretty decent today. (What a relief!) I'm spending the day looking into ways to make my RA better.
I took my doggie for a walk this morning and met a very chatty old Samoan man. Now I'll be able to post all kinds of random facts about Samoa on the more dramatic threads.
Animal Fact Friday and now...
Samoan Saturday!
Don't tell anyone but I like yard work.  My wrist feels fine now, I think maybe I just slept on it wrong...Or perhaps, my big German Shepherd did

I love the random animal facts, they were the best.   Don't know any facts about Samoa, but I'm ready and willing to learn Hmmm? I have a bit of headache today. Some stiffness in the right side of my face. almost cheekbone area that is a bit sore. just looked in the mirror. That side of my face is puffy. I am not on prednisone so that is not it. I think my teeth are alright? Maybe Sjorgrens? Sinuses? My jaw is not what hurts it is the cheekbone under the eye going into the temple that hurts. Strange I think.

Guess I will keep an eye on it. It was looking in the mirror that really got my attention. probably will make a dentist appointment just to make sure all is well.
Well, its not animal facts Friday, but I have learned a thing or two...

They are cute little critters!!!  Especially when mom is leading a bunch of babies around.  But that damn stink!! OMG! Off to babysit. The we little one needs to go to the eroom for some bloodwork. She refuses to eat more then three bites at a time. let you know what they say when I get home.Oh Waddie.... Years ago we had a sweet but really stupid dog who got herself sprayed about 2x a year. Every time my dh would return from work and say "Gees, it smells in here! How do you stand it?" EVERY TIME!

Now when ever I smell skunk I find myself getting angry....
I hope the smell of febrezey skunk fades soon!
I'm sensing an oppurtunity for a new product here.....

FYI..The hog-nosed skunk can spray up to fifteen feet with incredible accuracy. Its spray not only stinks but also if it hits the eyes, will blind the skunk's target for up to two days.
Lynn492009-11-12 14:30:15Wow My five year old niece hit her nose on the banaster coming in from the school bus. Both girls are fine. I told them to behave and stay healthy and eat thier dinner. The stress of it all.

My nephews. LOL They wanted mac and cheese with pasta roni herb and butter noodles on the side for dinner. Also they wanted to watch a movie they are not allowed to watch. The nieghbor was watching them when I arrived. So I cleaned up a nice puddle of blood on the front stoop while the rascal nephews rode ther bikes. They are going to give me grey hair. Well that is more grey hair.

I know that all too well!

Hey, Milly, do you think maybe your facial pain might be the start of a sinus infection?
I just finished ten days of abx. Who knows?Usually sinuses do not make my skin turn red. One side of my face is swollen and red. Just another strange thing. If I ever figure it out I will let you know.I am nervously anticipating my third Remicade infusion tomorrow. I've been hurting so bad this week that I'm hoping it will help, but at the same time, I've heard that some folks get a pretty bad reaction to the third one.   Say a little prayer for me if you do that sort of thing! I'm taking the day off work - I sort of like this work Monday and Tuesday, take Wednesday off for the holiday, work Thursday and take a medical day Friday. Of course, it's not quite the same as if I were working for someone and was actually paid for the time off! Being self employed means I don't make any money when I'm goofing off! Prayers going out now! Best of luck!I hope your infusion tomorrow goes smoothly, Mary, and it provides you with relief as well! I am in the process of emailing a friend tons of data on why bio-identicals purchased from some storefront "doctor" with no license or credentials is an absolutely idiotic thing to do. I am always surprised to see  how many people are so gullible and believe all these snake oil claims.
Usually sinuses do not make my skin turn red. Is it warm to the touch too?  Cellulitis maybe?  Or a fungal infection, if you've been hitting the antibiotics heavy lately?  Sounds miserable.A little miserable not to bad yet I guess. Maybe a little bit of everything. The frost was a disappointment. The leaves fell off the trees and now they are growing new ones. Flowers are blooming and my sinuses are maybe not happy.

Fungal always. My brother is sending probiotics UPS. LOL Along with a bunch of other stuff. Something made of rice that gives you a hangover. Not saki LOL I wish! I guess he loves me, some bottle of meds made from rice that cost 0.00

It is a little warm to the touch.
Don't fiddle with that, Milly.  You go get it checked out while it is manageable - don't let it get outta hand!  We, of the RA club, have to be extra careful.  (and stick together!  I agree Milly. A visit to the doctor needs to be number one on the to do list tomorrow.
No fiddling!

I have to go to the hospital tomorrow so i can get it looked at then. So sweet of you all to look after me.

Waddie I have had wishes of vanilla febreeze. Scented candels, some orange peel and cinnamin simmering on the stove. I hope you had a better smelling day today.Milly, how is your face today?
Oh the face is the same. My sedrate is a bit elevated. So they said Sjorgrens or RA probably. I tend to hear that alot. My headache and sinus issues are better but the swelling is still there. It is not huge swelling but when it is your face, well it is a vanity issue.

My immune system has been so busy lately. I had swelling from the Tdap shot all week. Finally went down. Between fevers from the strep, the shots, the flu. LOL I think I feel better than I have for awhile. I guess the UPS guy delivered my package to the nieghbors. I have to go open it.
I hope the swelling goes down soon milly... but I'm glad you're feeling better. Is the package something fun? Chocolate or a puppy?Alright we have probiotics. LOL That would be me. This should give my nystatin a boost.

I did not ask for this but my brother sent me something made from brown rice. It has specific strains of brown rice? A detox I guess? Anyone ever heard of this?

editing to say not chocolate or a puppy. LOL

The prices on this stuff. I think my brothers natural medicine doctor is ripping him off? Still it was sweet of him to think of me.
milly2009-11-14 09:09:42Feeling ok. My butt hurts like hell from the boil and I'm out of vicodin.
The only joints that hurt arte knees and right  toes.

Had an unexpected expense today, our old  tv in the study, with the built in dvd and vcr players died today.. sigh  this is the tv that is probably most watched, its the kids  tv/dvd player. They dont and wont have tv's in their rooms so this is it. so I had to go replace it..

We have other LCD tvs but I'm always so surprised at how small they can be and still have the same viewing area. 19 inches is 19 inches. The old one is  monstrous. HUGE
kathy_in_wlsv2009-11-13 15:44:30Sorry about your butt. Sounds awful. Do you have any epsonsalts?Kathy I soaked mine in epsonsalts. It brought the abscess to a head and the doctor was finally able to drain it. That was such relief...
Feeling ok. My butt hurts like hell from the boil and I'm out of vicodin. Finally my house is calm. For some reason we had been having trouble getting both of my brothers psyc meds refilled. The doctor finally called them in just as they were packing for the psycward. They are thrilled. They were less than excited about the idea of checking into the hospital as you can imagine. We have never had this problem before. A new receptionist we guess was the problem. Finally we were able to get a hold of the actual doctor and all is well.
Finally my house is calm. OMG - glad you got that straightened out!!!
Hi all,  haven't been on the forum much in the last couple of days.  Have been setting up my office and trying to get a handle on all of the paperwork, 100 volunteers, 26 sites and a massive food program that's having some problems with abusive practices.  AAARGH.  It's going to take me a week to wade through all of it and make sense of what's happened the last 5 years that I've been gone from the county.  Anyway, it's been shoulder to the wheel and nose to the grindstone.  I'm actually very happy to be working part time.

I started back on MXT and Humira this week after being off of them for the last 3 weeks.  URI is just about gone and I have my usual overabundance of energy even thouhgh I'm stiff and starting to hurt from no meds.

The mountains around us had snow again this morning and it's really cold.  I'm finally prepared for the cold.

Am sorry about the boil and soaking it really is the best you can do from home.

Milly, that could have been a real mess and I'm glad that the scripts were called in.

I'm off to rest and I hope everyone's evening is warm and snuggly.  Lindy
Yes I would have had to turn off the tv. They hear voices and think the tv is talking to them. Lots of other stuff. They have different IQ's but they both act the same off of thier meds.Lindy..what do you do? Sounds interesting.

Milly, my bil is mentally ill also. He once called to let me know that the government was putting spy-cams on flies. I'm glad you got the med thing sorted out. It must be so stressful having to deal with all this.. My mil and fil have their hands full with just the one son.Leila, we've been retired for the last 5 years and we lived in the U.S. and Mexico until this past July.  We finally decided to settle back in the town that we lived in prior to retirement and my old position happened to open up and I'm back doing what I did 5 years ago.  I am the administrator for a national volunteer organization.  In the county where I live we have about 125 volunteers and many different programs:  Companion care, respite providers, Lifeline, hospital auxiliary, senior center, several different food programs, thrift stores and I have volunteers that help at the library, Chamber of Commerce and some children's after school programs.  When I'm not working with this program I am the events coordinator at the senior center.  It is interesting and challenging to say the least.  Can also be frustrating but I think that's any job.  LindyYes my Mother was about to loose it. She could not get threw to the therapist for two months. She and the pharmacy have been calling the doctor for two weeks. One ran out of depekote two days ago. The other ran out of everything today.

The trick was saying one ran out of his clonepins and that became a medical emergency. He could have had a seizure or a heart attack. No way we could have handled two of them off of there meds. They were worried about each other. Also the psycward only allows for one family member at a time. One of them would have gotten shipped out to god knows where. When they have there meds we are as happy as the Duggars. Good times.
Today is a shopping day for me and I do mean for me!  I received a large check yesterday and I'm spending some of it today
I need a new purse, wallet and some boots...so off I go on a shopping expedtion

I already have ordered on line at LandsEnd this morning and I bought some Reed & Barton flatware...the flatware of course doesn't count and came out of household funds!  Somehow, someway people keep losing the teaspoons in my house....Either that or there is a teaspoon thief living here.

I hope you all have a great day you go, Lynn!!!  shop til you drop.    I shopped on Tuesday.. I treat myself on my boobie smash day!!  LOL  (mammogram was fine ;) )
milly:  happy as the Duggars!!  now that's funny!
leila.. your BIL must have been watching "Get Smart"  (weirdly I am watching this and they had a mechanical fly........  It's funny if you've ever watched the old series!! This is better by Buck Henry and Mel Brooks!)
today is cleaning day!!!!!!!!  UGH.
tomorrow is bridal shower for my DIL2B ..... fun!

Oh a wedding Babs, that is wonderful!

Kathy how is your butt today?
I was wondering the same thing Kathy. I'm adding this to the list of things I never thought I'd ask.

Milly, how's your face? I hope it's as happy as a Duggar!

LinB, your job sounds facinating and stressful too I imagine.

Lynn, you go girl. I love purse shopping! I can only shop in short intervals though as I get overstimulated. I was that way even before RA. (BRA as I like to call it)

Babs, congrats on the new dil! I hate showers. Maybe it's because I've been to so many and I dislike those stupid shower games. My all time favorite shower was when grandma Helen had a few too many mimosas and announced that Chinese men are selfish lovers ( my dh's side of the family is Chinese) I almost spit my tiny sandwich out!

Have a wonderful Saturday ladies! Let me know if you want to know anything about Samoa..
Leila
Is it by chance Samoan Saturday????  I'm really excited now ROTFLMAO  (I wish I could really)  It still hurts. Its draining all the time, which is what we want.. The worst thing is trying to get comfortable sitting.  Its gone from 5 1/2 inches across the about  3/4 of an inch across.. it looks bizarre.

I've been on Clindamyacin for nearly 20 days now. It is working its just a slow process to get it healed. I soak it every day in epsom salts. I have to do a wet/dry dressing.. After my bath I apply a wet loose weave gauze sponge, cover it with a dry bandage. When I know the wet part is dry I have to rip it off taking dead tissue with it.. I SOOOO love doing that.

Yesterday I was putting a dressing on it and my 4 year old comes in and nonchalantly  walks up to me, bends over and squints and pronounces, "it appears to be healing" sheesh..

I dont belive I mentioned our goofy Friday the 13th.. ask me later.
I think I will join you all!  I'm feeling better today than during the week, which consisted of peaks in my going on year-long flare.  I'm experiencing the nightmare of having an RD in another county who has diagnosed Orencia, but trying to get into an infusion clinic in the county I live in.  It is a  long complicated story, but it is causing so much stress.  Yesterday while calling between my insurance benefits dept., a hospital down by RD, and my local clinic where finally a friendly nurse gave me good suggestions, I broke down crying.  She was even understanding with me, a big bozo, starting to cry on the phone.  This stuff is unbelievably expensive - I don't know if it's going to be a go.

I've hit on a scheme to contact my former RD who is local and ask him to be my rheumatologist liason in getting me scripted into the local clinic with the friendly nurses.  Having that sorted out, I woke up feeling a little bit better this morning. Got a ton of grocery shopping and errands done and am preparing to do a fun, gentle workout before starting dinner.
My face is a bit puffy on bothsides. Well at least it is even. LOL I am fine all things considered. I still have RA but is not one of my worst days just an average one.

My thrush is much better. Should be my brother spent way to much money. My personal opinion is that i could have gotten rid of the thrush alot cheeper. He is of the believe that a yeast infection is the cause of all of my problems. I mean he thinks I have a chronic yeast infection. LOL Well actually I do. Sjorgrens and all combined with my sinuses and all of the abx that my sinus infections tend to require. I just do not get stressed about it any more. I call the doctor and I treat it of course but I except that it is part of my life.

Hilarious!      My 3 and 5 year olds got used to hanging around while my husband changed my dressings.
After a couple rounds of this they must of decided that it was just what moms did. So while chatting with the 5 year old's teacher, my daughter announces "My mom's butt is getting better." I was going to try to act like I hadn't heard her but the 3 yr old chimes in "Show your butt mom!"

Hey Tara..sorry about the stress!! Gees! Sounds awful. I'm glad you got so much done today.

Lynn, YES I believe it is Samoan Saturday!! Here's what Sy, my 72 year old samoan neighbor, told me on our last walk. The last major hurricane to hit Samoa was in 1966. He also noted that hurricanes seem to hit Florida all the time, and he's not sure why americans continue to live there.... He's pretty sure there are no Samoans in Florida because they wouldn't put up with that sort of thing. This concludes this episode of Samoan Saturday.

Kathy...whenever you're ready... Friday the 13..

sigh It sure was Friday the 13th..

Ok TV in the study died. . This is the main tv for the kids. No TV in their rooms absolutely so the  one in the study is where they watch Nickelodeon and Animal Planet and all their Discovery Channel DVDs

so I went and got a flat screen 19 inch. It looks teeny, but the screen is the exact size as the behemouth we moved out of the study. I just paid a ton of $$ we didn't have to the handyman..

Then Mark called me at 730 pm to say he had a flat tire out in East Podunk, and would I come get him.. Ok this is literally out in the middle of no where, no lights for miles, with a man who I keep around because he's cute, not handy.

Today the AAA guy came out to where the car was and worked for an hour getting the spare off the bottom of the van.. sheeesh why did they put them there? only to discover the lug nuts were rusted into place. The car was towed to one place where they decided they couldn't get the tire off without breaking the lug nuts so it was towed to another place a family owned shop that specializes in tires, wheels etc for every thing from little red wagons to tractors and tractor trailers. Car wil be ready Monday..

THEN.. just as we were falling asleep we heard a terrible crash and discovered that during some horseplay a kid had been shoved through a plate glass window in the laundrymat across the street.

The good things are.. TV looks great, has a built in DVD player and the kids are happy.. The kid working on the car is the grandson of people we now and showed a work ethic that I haven't seen since his grandfather. Small towns are great. Marks car broke down near a house where they looked at him and said Hi Mark.. they know him by sight and name.. and the tire place always extends us credit..

Did I mention I love small towns?
"How's your butt?" " How's your face?"

You guys crack me up! I went back to work yesterday after an unprecedented four days off. The stars were in alignment somehow, as I never get that much time off in a row! And our Michigan weather was beautiful. We had lots of shoppers, and a bunch of new things had come in to be marked and displayed somehow. The store is overflowing now as I buy lots for Christmas, of course my busiest season.
New scarves, jewelry, and glass. Inexpensive pieces like fan pulls, ring holders, ornaments and bottle stoppers.
Today's the first day of shotgun deer season and the blasts began before light, which is illegal. No walking in the woods for a while.
My cat left half of a full grown rabbit (the back half if you're interested)in the garage. No wonder she didn't want her breakfast. That rabbit was as big as she is.One of my sons should be here in a few hours so I probably will not be online as much. I hope that you all have some pieceful times of good health. Seems that is hard to come by these days. I rested today, MXT on Fri. and Humira on Sat. left me little choice but to rest.  This is the first meds in 3 weeks and they kicked my BUTT.  I knew I could work that word into a sentence

I did some laundry, straightened up the bedroom and played on the computer.....a cave day.  Lindy
We took the kiddos to Laguna Beach today. They played at the park, held some tropical birds, checked out some nifty art by Wyland and strolled on the beach.
I'm feeling pretty drained and achey. Small price to pay for an awesome Sunday!Bluemoon...Half a rabbit? gack! Makes me kinda glad I don't have cats.

Well my right shoulder has been getting stuck lately. The sensation is like pulling a knotted rope through a hole. It gets stuck and then "pops" loose. Anyone else have this? I think its RA's little joke on me since this would be my bowing arm. (I play cello). Haha RA is sooo funny...

I hope monday is treating everyone well. I'm happy to report that MY butt and face are feelin' fine!
I am still trying to recoupe from my first aqua fit class this morning.  I feel like I have been hit by a Mac truck.  Besides having trouble keeping the biggest part of me (the butt) under the water, I kept everyone in stitches trying to stay on my back.  It was a pretty good workout and I think I will stay with it....if I can still move on Wed.Thanks for the update snow! I'm glad things are slowly getting back to normal.... if normal means you usually give your dinner a gynecological exam.
Here's to a week that is better than the last!BUTT there's more!!

Sigh, went to my weekly cheek check..

It was really uncomfortable last night. Inflamed and red and hot to the touch from mid thigh to hip. It keeps draining, a little.  When I take a bath, betweeen drying off and making it to my bedroom to reapply the dressing, I have  noticible  stuff that I have to wash off... AGAIN..

The NP called the Dr. in again, and they conferred and agreed if there isn't real improvement by Wednesday morning they will have an ultrasound done to see what is going on deep inside.

They switched me to a sulfa, off Clindamyacin, hopefuly it will make a difference.
They also put me back on the wet/dry dressings which I hate and gave me a refill on Vicodin. This thing hurts in the weirdest way..

This is beginning to be a real pain in the ass.
OMG Kathy!! Its begining to be a pain in the ass!!

I just loved my cheek checks. The doctor would walk in and say "So how's it looking?" Then I'd turn around and drop the sweat pants.... fabulous.

Have they tried rifampin sp? yet? Its the only thing that killed it for me. I think its pretty pricey tho..
I hope the sulfa works for you! We are so fortunate as to have a wonderful insurance plan. We pay nothing for maintenence meds, through the mail, and a minimal co pay at the pharmacy.. Never more than 15$ a prescription, and then if its for a acute condition the copay is .We are having fresh baked apple pie and ice cream for dinner.
I got my stitches out this morning! YAY!
And I feel... meh. RA, RA go away. DON'T come again another day. Way too much info for me! Had my third Remicade Friday and was still in so much pain this morning, I was crying. Called my rheumy's office as soon as I made it to the office and took a Vicodin. Doc recommended a steroid injection to try to stop the flare and give the Remicade a chance to work. If it doesn't work, he's going to switch me to Orencia in four weeks. Feel much better tonight after having the shot at 4:00 p.m. Trying to get off Medrol, and they said the injection would be better than increasing to 8 mg or 12 mg. Hope this continues and I can get back on track to get off Medrol and have relief from Remicade. If not, I'll try Orencia. I'll keep fighting this monster!Snow glad things are getting better.

Kathy That does sound painful.

Mary I hope your steriod shot brings some relief.

I am fine except. OUCH my toes hurt. Hips, elbows, feet, hands. It is raining also. This is flare pain I think rather than rain pain. No doctors appointments until next Monday. Anyway just got out of bed to take some pain meds.

Morning all, it's a beautiful, sunshiny kind of day here in Nevada BUTT cold

Mary, hang in there and maybe Remicade will kick in shortly.  I may be starting Orencia after the 1st of the year.  We'll have to compare notes.

My week is uneventful, just working and enjoying my evenings. I'm back on MXT and Humira after a 3 week absence and feel much better in the last couple of days.  I've started back on my anti-inflammation diet and maybe, just maybe, I can have some of the inflammation in my hands controlled by Jan. 1st and I won't have to change to Orencia.  At least that the plan for now.  Lindy

Sno, I somehow missed your update yesterday.  Glad he's doing well!!!  I know, it can be nervewracking to let him out of your sight.  Hang in there!!! :)

Snow..so glad your husband is doing so well ...very happy for u both!

So good to hear from everyone! For those in pain, I hope you're able to get some much needed relief soon. For those having pain-free days, may it continue!!
I feel AWESOME! (Liar, hehehe)
My plans for today are to take it easy.

Bumping up in hope of updates!

Just came back from getting my regular flu and H1N1 shots.  I have had two days of aquafit classes and I felt worse from them than the shots.  Hopefully I will get into shape pretty soon.  I do enjoy it.

Snow...So glad your dh is doing so well and I hope you are starting to relax a bit now too.

Mel...Hope you are taking it easy after your surgery.  Just because you feel good does not mean you should be back to normal living yet.  No heavy lifting or overdoing things.

Waddie....I am so glad you are doing so well.  Next thing you know we will have to tie you down.

To everyone else I have missed, hope you are all doing well and enjoy your Thanksgiving everyone.

Pat

Cool, rainy, gray days are tweaking my allergies here.   Not my idea of fun.  I would prefer it to just be cold! We're sharing the same day, I'm in MI too.  I don't have allergies though, hope you feel better soon.

You guys need to come out here to Cali  - it seems like everyday is 75 and sunny. Almost groundhog-ish.

Teed, okie-dokie.

Hope everyone is having a superfantastic and extra-comfortable evening!
Quiet day here. I have Ally's parent teacher conference this afternoon. I think she's doing well. jakie is still in his jammies, watching tv and playing quietly.. He's coming down with a cold, little cough and low fever.

My handyman is working on the outside wall to the laundry room. What started as minor winterizing morphed into getting an entirely new laundry room/half bath/pantry..  We gutted it all, its looking great. I have a 2 page list of things for him to do.. He is a meticulous worker. Very very nice personality and willing to do small and large jobs on a pay as we go cash basis.. (not under the table) but we have him do things as we have the $$ which is why he has done my kitchen one wall at a time...

My butt is slowly healing, doesn't hurt hardly at all. I need to keep doing the wet /dry dressings which I despise. Only joints that hurt are toes and knees. Today is MTX day too, so tomorrow I will have a lot of energy.Snow, that sounds like the perfect plan.  That's what Stan and I do Christmas eve.  We have a feast of all the foods we love and just snack away all evening.  Oysters, shrimp, cavier, and all the little goodies to go with it.  It's the only time of the year we indulge in food decadence.  Lobster, yum.  LindyLobster tails? I've never had those before. I ordered the surf and turf at Red Lobster (first trip there ever) and when they brought the plate to the table, I started crying. That rock lobster was so ugly! They laughed at me and took it away.

I went to lunch with my husband today and then went to Macy's to pick up the new silverware I ordered.
Of course then I had to empty the old silverware drawer, put new liner in, buy a new silverware tray and then I decided I might as well straighten up the other drawers...
And while I was buying the the new silverware tray at Bed, Bath and Beyond, I found a few other useful tools for the kitchen
We've decided to have lobster tails for Thanksgiving.  The hospital bills will be hitting soon enough, for now we're going to have a celebration of life and feel luxurious.  Neither of us eats enough anymore to warrant a huge feast with piles of leftovers, so we're going to savor something really special instead.
That is a great idea!!!  A day of celebration and thanks for life, we should all be as smart as you and live this holiday season the same way.  With all you have been through I think you have given me a new motto for my holiday's, thank you!!!  I'm getting ready to immerse myself in a website project for a friend. His daughter and her best friend, both in their late teens, committed suicide a couple years ago. The new website is about suicide awareness. Yes, there are several other websites out there, but I guess you can't have too many. Besides, he feels better doing something positive. Snow, Stan eats it, I don't.  I don't like the taste.  Went to the grocery store and bought my turkey and all the fixings for our early T dinner tomorrow.  Can't wait to smell the turkey roasting.  Bought a few Christmas ornaments and now I'm home and relaxing for the rest of the evening.  Lindy
Lobster tails? I've never had those before. I ordered the surf and turf at Red Lobster (first trip there ever) and when they brought the plate to the table, I started crying. That rock lobster was so ugly! Hiiiiiiii, Snow!!

Sam, I'm sorry to hear of your friend's loss, but I am glad you have the talent to help him with his endeavor.

Lynn, congrats on straightened drawers! Did you find anything you were missing?

Lin, what kind of ornaments did you get? I saw some disco balls at Walmart that were screaming my name. I don't know if our little tree can handle any additional decor though. Maybe I should just get a bigger tree. (Wish me luck trying to convince DH on that one!)

Reegie, how has your weekend been going?

(I apologize if I missed anyone!)

It was a beautiful day here so we took the kiddos to the park and then Petco. They had dogs for adoption up at the front that were super cute. Then we went through the drive-thru at Arbys (5 roastbeef sandwiches for - can't go wrong with that!) Now we're all full and content.

Hi Mel, I have a silver and red theme going and I bought little silver bells and red balls in different sizes and red and clear icicles.  We'll put the tree up when we get back from Boise on the 30th.  Still don't have a topper, may look for one in Idaho while we're there.  I bet you could get a bigger tree if you really tried........buy it after Christmas.  Lindy
Thanks, SnowOwl.  It was quite a traumatic time - he's never gotten over it and I'm sure he never will. It's been a couple years now and he's taking a step back from his work and speaking to other families about suicide.  This is any parent's worst nightmare.

I hope your husband is improving with each day.
Sam, that's a very generous thing you've done for your friend.  You're right it is any parent's worst nightmare.  I'm so happy that the parents are being proactive which in turn may help many people.

My turkey is soaking in brine and I should have it in the oven in about an hour and then I'll start preparing all the side dishes.  We have so much to be thankful for and that's why we're doing dinner and it's just the two of us.  We'll be with the kids next week.  Lindy
Hi everyone!  I hope Thanksgiving was tasty and full of thanks and good company!  I had a great one, only 5 of us, but we had turkey and allllll the trimmings!   Oh, Waddie! You have me salivating over here for sweet potato pie! Everyone always has pumpkin (which I'm not turning down!), but, hey, sweet potatoes need love, too.

We are grateful for YOU, Waddie! You are a wonderful person to have as a friend and I appreciate all the support and love you give.

Lin, your tree sounds beautiful! I hope you're able to find the perfect tree topper. Target has some nice ones. I haven't been yet, but I'm betting Hobby Lobby or Michaels has pretty ones as well. How was your turkey? I had a friend who cooked her first turkey this year - in a brown paper bag. She was so concerned the bag was going to go up in flames in the oven! Haha! She followed the directions on the internet recipe she found and it came out perfect.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving out in the desert. Everyone was outside playing on the toys. DH's uncle has RA and AS and he got on the pogo stick so I figured I could, too. Guess who got hurt? The dumb 30 yr old.

Hope everyone is having a superfantastic and extra-comfortable evening! Can't wait to hear about your Black Friday shopping adventures!

We've had a great time in Boise, good food and believe it or not my son cooked T dinner.  Melissa had to work and son said he had it under control and wouldn't allow me in the kitchen.  He prepared the full dinner and everything was so good.  I cleaned up afterwards.  Apparently he does all the cooking and has turned into a fine cook who likes experimenting.  We went antiquing today and I found a few treasures; the best one is a black beaded evening purse from France, circa 1950 for .00.  All 3 of us were exhausted this evening.

Haven't found a topper yet, so I guess it will wait till we get back to Nevada.  I cooked T dinner for Stan and I the Sunday before we left,  it turned out pretty yummy but we were sick of turkey leftovers by Tues.!!  Think I'm going to make prime rib for Christmas, can't face another turkey.

Mel, your Thanksgiving sounded perfect except for the pain......I'm like you, I'll try it and hope I don't hurt myself, but usually do but at least I tried.  You should be proud.

I went shopping on Black Friday and had so much fun.  I found a quilt finally.  I wanted something different and I found it.  It's pale green, pink, berry colored, with some yellow and I found rugs to match.  Also, found some Christmas gifts for the kids.  I didn't scream or run over any of the other shoppers, so I did good!

I'm off to bed now.  Hope your night is filled with good dreams.  Lindy
Bumping...Because I like reading about how everyone is doing
I have to drag myself to the office today. I am going to try to stay positive. 2 weeks I go back to Florida. I can do this. Have a nice day
I FEEL AWESOME!!!!!!!

You know, one day I'm gonna say it and it will actually be true.

We are supposed to have our first accumulating snow starting this afternoon...An inch today and a couple inches more overnight is the forecast.

My dogs are going to love it I'm gonna be the typical California girl and complain that its soooo cold here. It was 54 degrees this morning! Burrr! I know the rest of the USA thinks we are ridiculous... but I don't care. I'm cold!

On another note, it is possible that my 5 year old will be spending the rest of her natural life in her bedroom. While I was explaining to her that she could NOT skate in the street, she looked at me and said " I'm tired of your drama." Wha!!!! I guess she could tell by the look on my face that bad things were about to happen because the next thing out of her mouth was "Ok Ok! I'll go to my room!!" One of us may not survive her childhood...

And on yet another note...I'm so over having RA. (crazy right?) It seems like all anyone can ever think to say to me is "How are you feeling?". I know I should be thankful that people care how I feel, but I answer that question about 900 times a day. If I'm obviously limping then people tell me I should go home and rest. Gah!! First of all, I've got 7 kids, so unless you are offering to do something for me, don't tell me to rest. Secondly, this is my life for crying out loud! I can't spend it hiding at home. I don't want to miss everything. I know it makes people feel uncomfortable to see other people in obvious pain, but gees ... I don't know.. I'm probably being petty. I just want to be normal. Is that so wrong?

RD appointment tomorrow. I'm doing medium, not great, not horrible. I always wonder which of my 92 aches and pains I should mention. Uggg!!!! Any advice? do you only mention the things that are much worse? Do you mention weird things like the fact that some days when I call my dog (by lightly slapping my thigh) its actually quite painful? Why does that happen? It happens to my arms too. Is that fibro?

anyhow...if you've read through all of this you should reward yourself with some pie! I hope everyone else is much less agitated than I am this evening! On another note, it is possible that my 5 year old will be spending the rest of her natural life in her bedroom. While I was explaining to her that she could NOT skate in the street, she looked at me and said " I'm tired of your drama."

My youngest daughter was always pretty vocal...I remember thinking she was a lot like me

All I can say is...It does get better...after  they graduate from college

Hang in there
Leilia  I'm dying laughing at that one.

Same old crap here. Waiting for a call from RD.

Kids are funny as heck though.. Ally thought it would be a good idea to wrap a container's worth of silly putty around her favorite stuffed animal's neck.. So I spent 3 days picking it out of her fur with  every trick imaginable.  Shes clean now though YAYA..

Leila, I'm still waiting for the cold!! Is this the best we get here??? (I'm missing CO chill and snow. It doesn't feel like winter at all.  (that was me getting huffy at RA)

Speaking of RA, I feel AWESOME!! Uh, no... nope... still didn't work.

I'd like my slice of pie now, thank you.
54 degrees, huh?  It was 26 here when I took my daughter to school.   I'm having trouble working up any sympathy for you ;)  The really sad thing is that soon I'm gonna be wishing it would get up in the 20's.

So Mel, you miss the cold?  Come visit me if you can get across the Sierras.  We're suffering through 10 degrees this morning and I'm already sick of it.  I have to leave in a few to meet a friend in town for coffee and then go to the office for an hour or so.  I just want to hunker down at home and stay warm.

I finished decorating our tree last night.....it looks like magic.  All red, silver, glass, glistening, and sparkly.  The cats are ignoring it - for the moment.  I'm so busy with my two little jobs and the holidays that I'm not sure what direction I'm going in, the proverbial dizzy blonde.  We decided to stay home for Christmas and not go to Las Vegas and that makes me really happier than anything else.  Stan doesn't know it, but staying home would be present enough.....I did ask for Madeline Albright's new book and a pair of diamond hoops but I'll settle for staying home!  Now that's sad.

Babs and all you other warm weather freaks, enjoy your weather.  I'll live vicariouslyIt was in the mid-20's this morning when the kids left for school.  They were excited to see the first snow of the season, even though it's little more than a powdered-sugar-on-brownies effect. I'll get clobbered when you read that it's 61 degrees here - it was about 50 or so when I got up. Glorious. Sun is shining.

Went for my walk this morning and was breaking in a new pair of Avia walking shoes.......I've been buying the same ones for a couple years now and they were always great......until this last pair, which is pinching my toe. Yuck. [But how nice to complain about this rather than my knee and lower back and cervical spine.]

Kathy and Leila.....

keep those kiddie stories coming......... makes me smile and forget about any little twinges I may have!!
Okay all you warm weather people, just want to share...It's 28 here and it has been snowing on and off all day.

Just a couple of inches on the ground though and the sun has been shining intermittenly, so it's all good

There's a fire in the fireplace, a big pot of beef stew on the stove and apple cake in the oven.  It has been a good day!
Snow, I can't wait to feast my eyes on M.A.'s book and read about all the gems and their subtle influence on the most powerful people on earth.  I may wear my sparklies with my PJs and hopefully new robe.  One never knows what will be under the tree.

I wish my cat were content but he's not.  He's stalked the ornaments hanging from the lower branches, glances our way and waits to be sprayed.  I found a couple of dangly ornaments laying on the floor this morning so I think he got batting practice in when I wasn't looking.  My other cat is content to just stare at the tree.

My day has been pretty darn nice.  Met a friend for coffee, did a little work, came home and I've been putzing around.  Stan and I are having a date tonight, so I need to go make myself beautiful
Snow, I can't wait to feast my eyes on M.A.'s book and read about all the gems and their subtle influence on the most powerful people on earth.  I may wear my sparklies with my PJs and hopefully new robe.  One never knows what will be under the tree.

I love that!
Ok.. I'll have you know that it was 34 degrees this morning. Now that's genuine cold!! The girl in front of me at starbucks was wearing a knit cap, scarf, and ugg boots.....with her yoga t-shirt and capris.... THATS how you know its cold!! (my emoticons aren't working, so insert rolling eye guy here)

RD appointment went well. Came out with new nsaid rx (lodine?), 2 shoulders shot full of cortisone (which handsome RD promised would go systemic for all kinds of relief...smiley emoticon here), an appointment for synvisc injections, a referral to a shiny new orthopod, and a new dx of FIBRO!! Yay!! (insert sarcastic tone). We will get to work adjusting my meds to relieve fibro after the holidays. He wants to put me on cymbalta, but apparently it can be hard to get used to. My RD found more swelling than he has the last couple of times...I could tell because he made the 'you're more swollen than I would like' face. But he didn't make the 'we need to up your dosage' grunt, so its all good.

I love all the cat -vs- Christmas stories! One year we had a dog and a toddler that were both
