1. are you petite or short?

2. What is your ethnic background?

3. Do other family members have RA or other rheumatic ds.?

I am just interested to see if any of us have a common thread.

I am under 5 ft tall, Italian, and I have several people with RA in my family, also OA, MS, and osteoporosis.

I'm 5'2", English background and no one in the family has RA although several have OA.

1. are you petite or short?

(5'6")

2. What is your ethnic background?

(American) (mostly German and English and probably more)

3. Do other family members have RA or other rheumatic ds.?

(not that I know of~mother had several years with psoriasis. I have/had horrible plaque psoriasis for 15 plus years off and on and now as of the summer of 2005 been diagnosed with Psoriatic Arthritis. Both under control. The psoriasis by way of Elidel and the PA with the "love of my life" Enbrel)

I am 5'71/2" I am an american mutt, irish, scottish, and polish I have pa ra and oa the pa follows years of psoriasis and all are under control of lidoderm, naxporin, enbrel and arava.   My father had ra but he suffered from psoriasis and I had a feeling since I have pa he had it too, but the family dr didn't recognise it.  It took my dr's office 4 almost 5 yrs to realize I had pa.  I have a feeling that at least one of my brothers will have pa and several will have ra.  There are nine of us in my family and 4 of us suffer from hypothyroidism, and one is on the border.  Ra is on my mother's side of the family too.  so I believe very much it is hereditary, but I do beleive that people get struck out of the blue with arthritis too.  meme

I'm 5', chex/german. No RA but my brother has ulcerative colitis.which is an autoimmune ds. My mom, dad, all brothers and sisters 7 in all have OA. Interesting!!!! Pat

My son is 12 and 5 ft tall. Caucasion/American Descended from Irish, Canadien, Polish. Blonde curly hair, pale complexion. His sister has Hypothyroidism/auto immune. His grandfather and great great grandfather had RA but did not get it until they were in there 60's. I believe you have to be predisposed through heredity but some sort of trigger sets it off. The very hard part is finding the trigger. We have not found it yet but are still trying with the hope of eliminating the trigger and then helping the RA. It could be foods, stress, heavy metals, molds, other allergies, or some type of parasite. I've been told that my paternal Grandmother had some form of RA for about 2-3 years after the birth of a child, which 'burnt' itself out.  That would have been the thirties though and of course not much would have been known about it
