Spinal injections yesterday! | Arthritis Information

Hi guys, just thought I would fill you in, I had 6 shots yesterday as a diagnostic tool only, it was painful, as they only gave me twilight sedation, but very professional and comforting when they realised I could feel it that much they topped up the sedation, had a lovely private room, flat screen TV, it was a nice experience apart from the pain.  They injected the L4 and L5 facet joints (RA), and the sacro-iliac joints (possibly AS).  The pain specialist told me I would get relief for about an hour after the anasthetic wore off, and if that happened then it was a success, that tells him this is the area the main pain is coming from and in 6-8 weeks he will electrocute the nerves and that should last for 2 to 9 months approx.  I had a lovely surprise and he was delighted, I have lost 5 kilos since I saw him last, and all I have been doing is gentle exercises in the pool, now the weather is great, walking 10-20 mins most days slowly and moving more around the house.  I must admit my appetite hasn't been good so I have cut down on my intake naturally although I had reduced the size of my meals to try and help myself a little.  PS Specialist said the good effects from yesterday may last a bit longer and if they do it is a bonus, well so far so good, had a bit of a rough night but feel good today.

My RA pain is sporadic but bearable most days and the fatigue again is the main problem, Liam is better thank God, so I am looking forward to a great Christmas.

Kind of beats Levs theory that I bring all the bad stuff on and deserve it.  I have wonderful loving friends and family, a great Faith in God and do not agree with him for one minute.  My life is wonderful Lev, despite the problems, every day is a blessing and I would never think like you do about people and their probs, I feel you are a very sad lonely old man, I hope God is kind to you.

Thanks guys for listening, I haven't been on much as the Shug thing really affected me, I am so unsure of what to believe anymore. God Bless all, and heres to a lovely Christmas for everyone and hope Santa brings pain relief to us all!
Janie. janiefx12009-11-16 16:39:47Janie, I am so glad things are better for you and Liam and that you are looking forward to christmas....dont worry about Lev's theory, not many people do.

Well done on the weight loss, gentle exercise is great..
take care xxx
Glad you got your spinal injections. Also glad Liam is doing better. A good reason to celebrate the holidays. wow I had the injections in the l5 and another one and they did a local numb didnt feel a thing except pressure. Had it 2 weeks in a row then the 3rd week the did both facet (spelling?) joints of my spine and said  if they work they will burn the nerves but so far only 60% relief but it is better then none. So I am waiting for follow up visit to decide.Janie, pleased that some more action is being taken in an effort to give you some relief from  pain.  Did u have it done, or in Brisbane?  Any time you are down here for a while, I'd love to meet up with  you again.
Congrats on the weight loss - it is so hard when we aren't able to move as far and as fast  :(

Lorraine
Thanks a lot Lorrie, I had it done in Nambour private hospital, a bit closer to home, only 2 hour drive as opposed to 4, would love to see you again soon I hope, thanks again, hope you are doing OK. Hugs Janie.XX  Hey, Janie! Congrats on the weight loss. Janie,

I didn't make up filthy lies about you and your fellow bird Pincushion and then post them on the WWW. You and Pincushion made up filthy lies about me and posted them on the WWW, remember? If it makes your seared consciences feel better to rag on me, good for you. It would be better for your health, physically and mentally to do the right thing and just apologize. But, if you feel that ragging on me in your posts is the right way to go, well, just go for it, let's see how that works out for yous.
