http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/11/20/mental-health-care-on-a-dime/Lynn, mental health care in the USA is pitiful at best. At least in my area of the country. Many people with mental health problems and substance abuse problems are uninsured or simply do not have access to care. Mental health facilities that are largely underfunded, are overwhelmed and difficult for many to access. Its almost like it is not a priority.The worst part is that far too many PCP's think that by shoving some Prozac down their patients' throats that the problem will go away. I don't think that they know how to treat it. A lot of the mentally challenged people are in prisons and that's terrible.
