I was diagnosed in early September with classic PMR symptoms.  My SED Rate was 83, neg for RA.  I had frequent low-grade fevers and severe joint/muscle pain from neck to elbow, knee to hip.  I went on-line to investigate auto-immune diseases and found that the first shown 'trigger' was silicone breast implants.  I don't have those, but did have a face-lift in June with little cheek implants.  I asked my doctor if I could be reacting to the silicone in those and he doubted if that little bit of silicone would bother me, but suggested that I have them removed, which I did in late October.  As of 3 days ago, I am totally off prednisone, totally pain-free.

In that PMR is a disease of we 'older' folks, may of whom have had various implants (hip, knee), could this be triggering the PMR?
Hi Elizabeth, so very pleased to hear you have no PMR pain and to be off Pred this quickly as well.
This is the fastest time I have know of ... I do hope you are cured.

I do not have any implants...  YET! So I am a no, for triggering PMR.

I have weight gain from Pred..  Ughhhhhhh,  has a couple of pluses,  increased bust size and somewhat eased out the wrinkles. I will not go into detail of what I hate about the weight gain!!!
Hugs Lyn

i am hoping my friend, that you have found an answer for you and pmr, but beware pmr can be a fickle on and off again devil.  i , myself thought i cured myself when it more or less disappeared after some antibiotics, but back it came.  once after being stung by a bunch of bees, it again gave me almost total relief, but was back in three or four days.

i hope for you , this is a total relief and the answer for you. i have searched for info on this, but was not able to find it. i have no transplants, but i look for any info that helps me understand, and what i understand, maybe i can control the outcome.  let us know, your progress...........

Thanks for the encouragement.

I'm 7 days off prednisone now and this morning I have finger/wrist joint pain.  Maybe the prednisone was masking some arthritis.

So far, so good.
happy for you that you seems cured of PMR,
Have a quierry?  Could the menopause and hormone unbalance trigger PMR and if so instead of taking Pred, as anybody tried  Hormone replacemnent therapy and see how PMR is doing.  I am tempted as I am in middle of menopause.

thanks
