Hi!

New with this disease.
Need some feed back please!
Have been in living in Bangladesh for the last two years with my husband who is working here.  Was very ill with the flue in June, full of pain like flue aches and pains but not too bad but since this summer very slowly got worst and for the last two months had bad back, terrible bad shoulder and a swollen ankle around ligaments. The British Doctor here was not quite sure  about PMR, had blood tests and slightly higher but not so bad. No Rhumatologist here. But reading some of the symptoms on different sites it really seeems like it is pmr
Was put on prendnidole last wednesday, first day brillant but after that only give me relief from 3h in the afternoon and then pain back in the middle of the night, I am on 40mg a day.

Does the prendnidole takes longer that a few days to work, heard if it does not work straight away could be something else, but read as well from somebody on the site that it took her three weeks.
Could one have PMR and still have pain on 40mg of Prendnidole?

Thanks for feed back

Hi VeroB, I am the "3 weeks til I felt relief".....
and that was a long time,,,,,
I was only on 10mg Pred and possibly if I had been on higher it may have worked faster.

At 40 mg Pred, I hope you will soon get the full effect , if you have PMR. It may just be a case of wait and see or to see your Dr again to maybe have the Pred increased.

Sometimes, Fibromyalgia and PMR symptoms which are very similar, are diagnosed by, if the Pred works its PMR... if not Fibro.

Have you had a better day/night? Are you taking other pain meds ect.?
Sorry you are here in pain but you will find some very good and caring people , willing to help in anyway .. so ask anything... PMR is something we are all learning about!
Hugs Lyn

Hi!

Thanks a lot from Bangladesh although I am actually French.

Do not know much about fibro, but scared that it is what it could be as i gather it is even worse that PMR, as it never goes away.  Sometimes I take some paracetamol but does not seems to be doing much.  Today had a bad day with pain, tireness and feeling sick with nausea.  Feel pretty depressed too.

Next sunday going to see doctor again but I think she feel she is now outside of her comfort zone with diagnostic.  Will probably go to Singapour in January to see a rhumatologist.

Is it normal to have a swollen and painful ankle, read that sometime the bag around the ligament can be swollen with PMR.

Do not know about support here, medical set up pretty basic, this British Dr did think it might be PMR

Thanks a lot

Even in the worst of my pain, it always seemed to be better in the afternoons and evening.  Good luck. Thanks for reply.  Just another query.  although the pred make it so much more bearable, it never quite take the pain completly away. And I read that some for some people it is like magic. it goes completly away.  Does it mean that it still is PMR if the pain is better on medecine but not quite gone.  Still trying to get my head around the fact I hve PMR.  Although still need confirmation from rheumatologist. Have slight headache but very small all the time, somebody suggested could be tension and not the other dreadfull thing it could be. any feed back?
Thanks a lot
