Anybody catch the show on television. Man I feel bad for these people. I could not imagine how anything could get so out of hand.

I can't sleep if I know there is a dish in the sink...but that is another story

I have seen it a couple of times.  It is beyond my comprehension how someone can live like that.  I'm not as bad as you #1, but I don't like things not done either.  I can go to bed with a dish in the sink though....

to live like that can not imagine...but how does it all START?

From what I gather, there is some chemical imbalance in the persons brain. They said tonight that the person inflicted doesn't even register the "smell"

this woman had dead cats in her house...they were like fur covered bones...the cat went missing and had gotten trapped in the mess and died there. YIKES
My friend who lived with us was a hoarder.  her room was so full she had no room to walk, just a teeny space between the computer chair and bed.. in a 10 X 13 room she had so much crap that when she left it FILLED a covered 6 x 12  cargo trailer from U Haul.
She fills her place so much that she has to make paths through some rooms..

Hoarders have a sickness  and a "just in case" mentality... I might need XYor Z  "just in case.. She saved every single piece of wire  that came in packaging for kids toys   you know that  heavy plastic coated wire that keeps the toys in the package.. every single piece  she has shoeboxes full of it.. WHY????   thats just one example.. She has like 10 slow cookers... WHY?? shes single and lives alone..
Snow - wow, wow, wow....  I don't even know what to say about that other than, "WOW!" And not the good wow, that overwhelming geez wow.

Anytime we watch that show, I find myself wanting to clean and toss things out. My only bad habit (with the best intentions) is wanting to donate everything and anything that is still usable. I end up with trash bags full of clothes, toys, etc., for donation that wind up being stored in the utility closet and sit there comfortably for a while before they make the trip to the donation bin.
I am with CO-Mel.... WOW.

I worked with a financial advisor a few years ago.. who did a lot of research.... and every page of every bit of research he did was piled upon piles in his office..... it was a very small maze from the door to his chair... all up on his desk leaving him a 8 X 8 square to write.... and barely enough room to reach his phone....  If you dared say you would clean it up for him.. he would literally shake at the prospect.... if you slammed the door of his office it would look like an avalanche of paper...   He had been in submarines during his career in the navy as a young man.... many believed that is where his "comfort" began.

yes.. Mel.. watching hoarders makes me want to clean house... IMMEDIATELY!!
This the episode I watched yesterday...Hard to imagine...sad
