Arthritis Information -Enbrel and the phantom disease

Hi

don't know that you were interested in a reply, but having psoriatic arthritis I'm on Enbrel and relief is only for 48 hours. As the work week progresses with commuting and long days, it's like I took nothing. My dr. tried me on Remicade as well and then we switched back to Enbrel-blessed with private insurance at work, so I dare not complain:-)!

I have only a small patch of psoriasis on my right hand-i burned that spot at least 5 years ago and it never healed and continued to dry up, split open, itch and I never connected it with psoriasis. Asa a child I was diagnosed with psoriasis on my knees, and mid-life, it had disappeared. When I reached my 30s the arthritis began, but wasn't diagnosed as such-no swelling, negative blood work, I described what is now recognized as Fibromyalgia or CFS, but then both illnesses were dismissed and docs handed out antidepressants and gave you a pay on the head while suggesting therapy. I wasted over a decade trying to find out why I have indescribable fatigue and pain. Chiropractors used massage machines and cracked me every which way and I am convinced caused more problems without knowing what they did.
Becuase I am alone, work was non negotiable, I didnt want to be homeless-but the price for persevering is I am in my late 40s and look a tired 60s...definately not a 'cougar' style 60!

I'm glad you found a med that works, I take many unfortunately and they maintain a very limited lifestyle of work to home to work to home. my work is very detailed and stressful, but hugely interesting and often rewarding-oh I could go on but this is already TMI:-)
stay well
Hi, My name isAlexender - I was placed on Enbrel 6 weeks ago for psoriatic arthritis - never heard of it! Was hospitalized 5 yrs. ago and diagnosed with RA (didn't believe them, though there is an RA factor in the blood) - I think they just wanted me out of the hosp.. Since then whatever I was suffering from has been getting progressively worse and for the last 1 1/2 yrs. ... I was hopeless and depressed after 9 years of being sick taking methotrexate and other disgusting drugs (suflasalazide) to no avail....until my Rheumy convinced me to try enbrel.  It has also been my miracle!  I take nothing except enbrel now, and the injections I give myself weekly are virtually painless.  I consider it my weekly gift, and I praise God for it, and for my doctor.  I'm so glad to hear that it has also been a miracle for you, and pray that it continues.

As to your questions regarding hormonal effects from enbrel...I have been on it for 3 years and have had no noticeable such effects.

God bless!

Hi - new here

I was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis 25 years ago. This year, after the MRI revealed active sacroiliitis and I was all broken out with psoriasis, they changed the diagnosis to psoriatic arthritis.

I have been on Enbrel for 2 months now. I think my Enbrel SureClick hurts and I am always very tired....but I'm not hurting anymore!

I've gotten a lot of good info about Psoriatic arthritis from the boards at the national psoriasis foundation web site.

Good luck!
I have been on Enbrel for 6 years and for some reason I have developed a rash everytime I take antibiotics its horrible and it happens with atleast 7 of the ones my dr has tried they are losing faith in me being able to take anything anymore so i am in deep trouble if infection hits me which i have constant sinus problems and developed strep throat 3 days ago needless to say i am covered from head to toe with rash just wondered if anyone had ever experienced anything like this?
