Over done it... | Arthritis Information

Been doing so well lately, but now I feel lousy. The cold weather has really set in here in Ohio.

I want to remind everyone that the temptation to go all "guns out" when you feel well is probably not the best thing. The holiday season is my favorite time of the year, but the way I feel today is a reminder to me, NOT to over do....I have to remember to pace myself.

I just wanted to share with everyone...pace yourself...don't get caught up in to many commitments and go easy on yourself even if you are feeling relatively well. For me, doing to much brings that " I just got run over by a Mack truck Feeling"

Such a hard balance to keep...especially when I LOVE being active and LOVE the Holidays.

I hate this pain and fatigue...I feel a little down emotionally and physically...trying to keep the chin up and shake this!
Thanks for listening.

Lisa
Christmas is a great time, but such a hard time too.  I hope you feel better soon.

I know the Mack truck feeling, except I think that one parked on me.
Thanks Ladies,

This morning I feel much more energized. I had a scare 2 nights ago...my vision went haywire. Rather rapidly my vision went foggy. It was like a veil of smoke dropped over my vision. It was late evening, so I thought maybe my contacts, I removed them, then put my glasses on, cleaned my glasses 3 times, still had foggy vision, and pretty color halo's around lights, the Christmas tree with white lights looked almost colorful with rainbows...It was late and I was the only one awake so I finally just went to sleep and by morning there was no more problem. I was so close to waking someone to take me to the emergency room.
I am feeling rested back up..so maybe I was just tired, IDK...Does anyone else have problems resting once fatigue sets in?...it seems I have a harder time sleeping when exhausted. Doesn't make sense, I know, but seems to be the case with me.
Anyhow, thanks for your replies...it makes me feel not so alone to know others understand.
Best wishes,
Lisa

Thank you for your concern. And yes, that is how I feel sometimes...what's new.

Glad you are feeling better.   The visual disturbance must have been nerve racking!
aww, I'm sorry you feel so bad Lisa. I do hope in the next few days you will start to feel better. I know I over did it during Thanksgving...but just kept going and like you said, you really start feelin it the next few days. Throws you right back into reality, doesnt it?
Lisa, sorry if I'm remembering someone else, but didn't you say you also have MS?  If so, and if you have any other such vision disturbances perhaps you should mention that to the doctor; it might be optic neuritis, whether it's from inflammation or demyelination of the optic nerve.  I hate it when my eyes are affected by anything, it's the one thing I will run not walk to the doctor to have checked out.
Yes Snow you are correct. The major difference about what I experienced the other night and what I experienced with optic neuritis is PAIN and it progressed and lasted...the other night was totally painless.
Sometimes with MS if you over heat or your body temperature raises you can experience temporary symptoms from old flairs. Totally different from active relapse (flair). When your body returns to normal temp the symptoms go away. ...I honestly do not know what happened the other night. Maybe a painless migraine?
I will mention this to my doctors on the next visit. I stopped calling them a long time ago every time I get a strange occurrence. I only call when something happens and does not resolve or involves weakness or pain. I am determined to maintain status quo for the holidays. Thanks for the replys...I appreciate it.

Enjoy the Holidays. Let us know how you are doing. Remember your own advise and try not to over do.

My feet are very angry at me. I shampooed the carpet. Just as I finished my sister came over. The baby has a virus and a touch of fever. I could not explain to her that I needed to rest.

Poor baby. I had the playpen back in the bedroom and was finishing the carpet. She was crying saying I did, I did. Meaning she already took her nap. She trys that one at three in the morning sometimes. LOL You tell her to go back to sleep and she says I did. So I put away the shampooer and picked her up. By the time they left I just sat in one spot for an hour with my throbbing feet elevated.
Hi Inflammed, I have experienced the eye thing too.... Flashing /  Zig Zag  coloured and white lights. Also no pain. Sometimes in both eyes but mainly one or the other.  My Eye man said it was a type of Migrane!  Pretty scary , I was nearly afraid to tell anyone in case they came to get me xx
We have so many strange / odd things happen along the way !
Mine lasted about 20 - 30 minutes  on and off over a period of approx 12 months.

Cute grandson! Ours will be 19 soon and a real lady killer!!
Hi Lisa,

Are you by any chance taking plaquenil?  They say that with taking plaquenil that you sometimes see halos around lights and that this is a sign that you should stop the medication.

I hope you are better, I agree with LynM it could also be a migraine, when I get those visual disturbances it is some type of a migraine only there is slight pain not like when I get a full blown one with throwing up and feeling like someone is sitting on my head.

The holidays make us all crazy, we all want the perfect Christmas, I was feeling down in the dumps because I am having trouble with my knee and cant do all the baking I usually do.  My Dad put everything into perspective...he said it is not the cookies, food, decorations and everything else that make Christmas but the fact that the family is together celebrating no matter what is on the table.  That is what is special.

So try not to worry, feel better, soon you will see your grandson!  I wish you a blessed holiday!
