Carpel Tunnel? | Arthritis Information

Hi all, my joint pain is normally in my knees, ankles and feet but in the last couple of weeks from my lower elbow down the under part of my arm to my lower wrists has been aching and at night (several times during) I wake up and my fingers are numb like they have fallen asleep takes a couple minutes to shake off and get feeling back.  I have had pregnancy related carpel tunnel that went away after I gave birth and that is what this feels like (my baby is almost 4 months now).

My question is has anyone else experienced this and is this something that I should discuss with my RD or my general doc?  Do you think this is RA related?  Thanks for any input!!
It might be teno-synovitis and yes, it's related to autoimmune arthritis. Possibly overuse of your computer mouse.

I used to get the same set of symptoms in my right hand, which really interfered with my using a mouse. I saw an orthopedic  surgeon and we tried Kenalog. When it didn't work we did outpatient surgery, called "De Quervain's Release" where some tissue is snipped. [And in my case, quite a bit of fluids mopped up from all the inflammation.] Easy and fast surgery.

If this is what you have.

Here's a link to an article about it:

In any case, see an orth surgeon who specializes in hands and arms.
Reegie I have carpal tunnel probs in both of my wrists which cause numbness at night, or during certain positons may hands may be in during the day. My Rheumy injected cortisone into both wrists last year with good relief and I think I am not far off having it done again.
I find hanging the affected hand over the side of the bed for a few minutes helps. Also, try to sleep with your hands lower than your wrists, if you know what I mean!
My thumbs and little fingers are not affected.

My Rheumy said it is related to my RA so you may need to talk with yours about it before seeing an Orthopaedic surgeon? JMO.
I have bilateral carpultunnel. Seems to come and go. Mine shows up on a nerve conduction test. Rest is good. Get a brace for night time. That does wonders for me. I feel very certain mine is auto immune related. I am surprised more people did not answer this thread. In the past these threads have filled up with people that had carpultunnel. Maybe some of those people are no longer on the board?
