How long did it take before enbrel started working | Arthritis Information

I will take enbrel for the the fourth time tonight .  My toes still hurt.  In fact for someone who was in a bit of denial I am now sorry I didn't start sooner!

I've heard some people say the medication started helping right away,  I'm just hoping I will soon show more improvement.

I need some encouragement!

Thanks.

Dotty,

I'm really sorry you haven't seen any benefit yet from the Enbrel.  I was one of the lucky ones that saw significant improvement with my 2nd shot.  Hang in there.  I think it takes about three months to see the full effects.

Hope you feel better soon.
Hi Dotty....I hope the enbrel kicks in soon and brings you significant relief.  It started working for me the day after my first shot, but that's not tpical.  Hang in there. The Dr. told me it would take 6 weeks at least.Hi Dotty - it took me about 2 months to feel the full effect, so give it some time.  Hope you feel better soon.I felt more energetic almost immediately following the second shot........... It was a few months before effects started to be really good...... and a full year before I felt great!! and had only two joints that registered inflamed synovial lining.
What I did in my second year which may be a coincidence or not.. I shoot the needle cold..... straight from the fridge..... no room temp.... no heating up over my tea anymore..... I do know it is very temperature affected...... and I thought..... why heat it...??? why let it warm? Because it burns? It burns for a couple seconds during injection.  That is all.. so I take the shot cold from the refrigerator and it started to really work well!!
My RD said to give it 3 months to feel improvement, and then another 6 months to decide if it was working to the ability needed.

I know...way to long...
It took me close to two months, if I recall.  At first I had a lot of fatigue, then some bloating for some unexplained reason.  After about three weeks I 'thought' some things were improving.  Then somewhere around the six or seven week mark, the alarm clock went off, I jumped out of bed and walked into the kitchen .... and suddenly realized that I'd just walked across the floors with no pain in my feet and that my hands were easily making coffee.  I wanted to scream at the tree tops in glee!  Hang in there, good luck. Thanks so much for the encouragement!  Mt feet are the main culprits, I can't wait to take a longer walk!  And by the way, I still walk outside, less frequently and for shorter duration, do you think that's okay or should I stay off my feet more?

I really do love fresh air, cold or warm!

And actually I imagine most peole with foot issues have many more problems than I do.
Dotty, I've found that it's best to move.  Unless you're really locked up in a severe flare, when rest is better - but trying to get in movement actually improves things, so I'd say keep walking.  Do you have good, supportive footwear that is roomy enough for your feet?  I also find it helps to wear thick hiking socks.

I hope that Enbrel kicks in for you soon!  I got seven years of relief on it.
