Anyone take Humira more often than 2xs a month? | Arthritis Information

I am going to bring this up with my RA doctor but has anyone ever been prescribed to take Humira more often than once every other week. I notice that after day 10 (of taking shot) my symptoms start to slowly come back on Humira but Enbrel doesnt work for me so I am wondering if its ever an option to take Humira shots closer together than 14 days.

Anyone have any experience with this? Just curious... thanks!

Hi Abby, I was taking Humira weekly until my cell counts had some abnormalities and my RD became concerned that Humira was the culprit.  I went back to twice weekly and within a month my counts were on their way to being normal and I expect that my next labs will be normal.  I went from every 14 days to every 10 days and then weekly.  You might want to talk to your doctor about every 10 days.  LindyDid you ever have success with it every 2 weeks or did it just start to slowly wear off or not work after you had been on it awhile? I am worried that I will become immune to it and it will stop working. I have been on it twice though and both times it starts to noticably wear off around day 10. I have an appointment the first week of January and I will DEFINITELY be talking to him about doing them closer.

If you dont mind me asking - why did you go to weekly shots? Did they work even for a few days just not long enough?

Thanks for the input! (and on christmas Eve too - I am impressed!)

Hi, I went to every 10 days because by day 10 or so I was starting to hurt and had noticable inflammation.  That didn't work so we went to every 7 days.  I'm back to every 2 weeks and doing poorly so I'll be starting Simponi or Orencia next month.  LindyI originally took Humira bi weekly for 4 months.  The first week I was fine, the second week I was miserable.  My rheumy then changed it to a weekly shot and I did much better. I took it like that for 5 years.  I just recently had to switch to Orencia because my rheumy felt as if Humira was losing its effectiveness for me.  My sister also started out on Humira at a biweekly shot and was eventually put on it as a weekly shot also.midnitestich2009-12-26 18:45:43How interesting.  I've been taking Humira every two weeks since July and I, too, have noticed that it wears off around day 10.  I'm planning on bringing it up with my rheumy at my appointment 1/7 and will let you know what he says.  This last month especially I've had a lot of inflammation despite taking the Humira and Methotrexate.  It's incredibly frustrating! Just so you know...my insurance was fine with every two weeks but required an 'approval' process to go to every week.Glad I found this post.  I am new to the forum and this is just what I was wondering about.  My RD has me on Humira weekly (she said just for a couple of months) and I feel so much better, (except still have low energy), I am afraid to go back to bi-weekly and the swelling, stiffness and pain coming back.  I go back in 3 weeks and I will talk to her about every 10 days.  Thanks!
