Oh Happy Day! | Arthritis Information

Hi all,

This is going to sound silly, but I'm very excited.

Anyway, I had decided it was time to get a grip on this thing and make a doctor's appointment so I could get a referral to a rheumatologist.  (My former RA doc was over an hour's drive from me.)  Then this morning I started doing research, getting on the internet and checking my benefits, searching for rheumatologists, etc.  I found out that I don't need a referral to see a rheumatologist, and lo and behold, there's one about 15 minutes from here who is covered under my insurance!!

Anyway, like I said, it sounds silly, but I feel like I've been given my life back again!  I've been feeling very down, scared, and worried about my future.  I now feel like there's been a great weight lifted off of my shoulders.

Now I just need to sit down and start journalling everything I need to talk to the doc about.  I want to make sure she's aware of everything so we can get a better handle on what exactly is going on with my body.

Cris

Congrats Cris....I know most people would think that just getting an appointment with a doc is "silly" to be so excited about it....BUT...for people in our shoes THAT IS HUGE!!!  You SHOULD be excited!  You have every right to be.  That is a big step in the right direction.  You know that just getting yourself to the doctor will mean a treatment will be coming soon!  We have to really be thankful for ALL of our blessings and you getting to a rheumy without having to go through your GP is a HUGE blessing!!!  My heart is smiling for you!  Your signature is true...you REALLY CAN do all things through Christ.  Keep praying baby...like the footprints in the sand poem says...He is carrying you right now!

Awesome Cris!! I was worried about you not seeing a doctor and being on some sort of treatment program. This is fantastic news!! Don't worry too much about the co-pay right now. Something will open up for you.

Once you've gotten to know your doctor a little let him know that finances are a struggle for you. Explain your situation as a single mother. I was right where you are a year ago. (Bless you girlfriend) You'll be surprised how understand and helpful they can be. My doctor will still slip me some samples everytime he gets a chance. Also he'll avoid running any test that he thinks might could wait if that's going to mean a huge expense for you. That adds stress to your already stressful life.

This is great news Cris. Enjoy this victory today....and try to forget about the other things for a couple days. Believe me...I remember all too well how hard that is.

HON I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!!!!

That is great news!!!!! I can see why you are so happy. Meme is right about the samples. I am on ssd and the med companies supply me with meds and what I can't get from them my RD gives me samples. Normally they are more than happy to help.

Good luck and let us know what the RD says
