Any experience w/ Hand Rejuvenation? | Arthritis Information

Hi Everyone,

Due to RA, my hands have that senior citizen "wasting" look.  I used to have beautiful hands, and I'm not ready have them be so dramatically different.

Has anyone had experience w/ hand rejuvenation or knowledge about it?

Thanks,
Nori
what do you mean by hand rejuvenation?

Where they plump up the hands with things like sculptra, radiesse (sp?), or even fat graphs.  I saw a show "The Doctors" once where they did the procedure in about 5 minutes.  The results were dramatic, and helped take this middle aged woman's veiny look away.  If you google it, you can find out more.
I'm wondering if I'm one of the few who have develped a wasting look (like a senior citizen's hands) from RA.

No I have that look also and my "f" you finger is turned.   I too use to have beautiful hands and get compliments all the time.  I stopped wearing my wedding rings for a while because I didn't want to bring attention to them.  I miss wearing rings and things.  What I miss more than that is wearing beautiful shoes.  That makes me cry.My hands tend to be plump from inflammation, too.

Even if they weren't, I'd wear jewelry anyway. I'm not about to deprive myself of enjoying these little things that make me smile.

Although - and only fellow arthritis sufferers can appreciate this - I wore a pair of high heels for the first time in a LONG time to a funeral last week. I'd never been to this church before - Rick Warren's church - and I tell you the campus is the size of Disneyland and you have to walk some distance between the parking and the "venue" [as they call it]. I was never so happy to be able to sit down and listen to all the eulogies [and get off my feet]. Then the trip back to the parking lot.  I think it's time to retire those shoes.
thank you for the replies.  doctors didn't believe anything was wrong with me for over a year) until 4 of the joints in my hand swelled up permanently.  I was begging for help even from a rheumatologist, but until they could "see" it, they just didn't believe me.  I am still bitter about it.

my feet are in bad shape, but more than just RA.

If I get anything done, I will keep the forum updated.

Hi, Nori! I saw this done on tv on one of those Dr90201 shows or something. The lady who had it done was in her late 50s and in better shape than a lot of highschool students nowadays. They injected her hands with some kind of filler and the results were not only dramatic but almost instantaneous. I was thoroughly impressed!! If you get this done, definitely post some before and after pictures. ;)

Hope you're having a superfantastic and extra-comfortable day!!
Sam,
Saddleback is HUGE! I'm impressed that you were able to walk all that way in heels. You go girl!Leila,

Don't be impressed! LOL  It was a stupid thing to do, wearing those shoes.

Those shoes and all others in my closet with more than a 2" heel are being donated to the battered women's shelter.

When I die I want to go in my Nike's.

Did you try Kenalog injections or is it too late?

Hi,

I have not heard of Kenalog injections.  I will need to check into that.  Referring to the earlier post, I saw the Doctor's episode as well.  She had large veins on her hands like I do now, and I think the filler would help.

I haven't gone to a plastic surgeon yet, but I hope to relatively soon.  Hands can really age you, and I just turned 36, so I'm not ready for "old" hands yet!!!

Kenalog is one of the main drugs used to quell inflammation in joints. It's a corticosteroid.
