Does weather affect RA or your RA? | Arthritis Information

I mean RA is your body attacking itself so it would SEEM weather would have nothing to do with it or flares but does anybody notice a difference during weather changes as far as their RA goes?

I've never noticed a connection between the weather and my RA.Are you kidding? I'm in southern CA - lately "waterworld." I really do feel it in my joints.

I happened to be at physical therapy a few hours ago and my physical therapist said that most of the patients who came in this week were complaining of painful joints.

But no, my flare-ups really aren't the same pain I feel when the weather is soggy.

Weather's never made a bit of difference for me.
Yes!  I can tell when it's going to storm, summer or winter.   We have had rain, rain, and more rain here in the desert. I feel super rotten. Everything hurts even my hair. It is the change in the barometer that really hurts me.  SnowOwl;

I got my elderly cat a heated kitty bed off of amazon. K&H Thermo-Kitty Fashion Splash Heated Cat Mat, Red. It is a round pad with a bolster all around. She adores her warm bed and only leaves her donut to handle life's necessities. She isn't as grouchy as she used to be.
Yep the weather effects both my RA and fibro. My RD says that's pretty commonLiving in a place with frequent weather changes -- yes, it's a player. I can feel fronts coming in advance.I live in the Pacific NorthWest and I feel it from September to about April. So yes Rain, Snow etc.. effects my RA tremndously.

RA 14 years
Dx 1996
Meds:: right now are 10mg Prednisone, folic acid, fish oil, vitamin c, iron
Haven't been diagnosed for long.  Just got back from four days in Florida playing golf.  Returning to cold snowy Michigan my finger joints have started to ache again.  I didn't notice that in Florida they felt just fine despite gripping a club every day.  I am not sure if it's the weather or the exercise that's causing my soreness now.
I will tell you it does effect me in weather change, It put me into a flare it is now 8 days that I have been in rough shape. It is bad everytime the weather gets bad it puts me into bed for days. So it does for me. Joan
I told my RD I'm a human barometer and she said that's common with RA.  I wouldn't say weather causes flares, though weather-related activity like shoveling snow, ehem, can aggravate things.  But I feel much more tired, all-over achey, and have more inflammation when it's cold and damp.  I love my electric blankets and heating pads.  So does the cat, fortunately I have more than one heating pad because he steals mine and grumbles and swats at me irritably if I try to reclaim it.  He's getting old, too.
Like snow.. I feel the changes in the barometric pressure.....
Yep, the weather effects me too.  It doesn't send me into flare mode, just makes me feel a bit achy and somewhat fragile - like I might move the wrong way and get a strain.

It's the barometric pressure changes that affect me & many who have RA or similar.

I do notice it in RA and OA affected joints, apparently the barametic pressure changes. We've had a long spell of rainstorms here in California and I started feeling more achy beforehand. Noticing more aching is nothing like a real RA flare though.
HI Abby, I noticed you said you the Onset of RA symptoms Apr-May 08 -- Official Diagnosis Sept 08......
My RA Doctor says I have the onset also, but its not showing up in any bloodtest so far, and on the verge of loosing Medical Insurance cause of that.....
Right now I have Ankle swelling and Knee Pain,,,and yes, some days are worse depending on the weather, that I have noticed in me.
How long did it or do you know until RA started showing up in your Blood test.??
