Humira & MTX | Arthritis Information

I am new to this forum ( new to posting, that is) and was diagnosed with RA in June 2009.  I am currently on Humira & Methotrexate.  I began on Humira twice monthly, then my RD added the MTX once weekly to that, and now, I am taking the Humira once weekly as well.  I am certainly feeling better, but still sluggish.

I go back to my RD in 3 weeks and I am afraid that she will put me back on the Humira twice monthly and my symptoms will return.
Has anyone had any experience with the Humira on a weekly basis?  If so, what kind, if any, issues did you have when the dosage was lessened?
I really hate the thought of being able to keep up with my family going away again......
Thanks in advance!
Hi Mema56!  Welcome to our forum.  I am on Humira once weekly as well, though I am no longer on MTX (I had issues with MTX).  The weekly dose made me feel better too but I can't answer how it feels to have the dose lessened.  Why do you think your RD might change the dosage?

I would think that if she had found a good combination of medication and your symptoms were improving, she would leave things as they are as long as your blood work comes back good and you are having no problems with the medications.  Can you discuss this with your RD... does she give you time to ask questions?

I hope the drugs keep working for you and you continue to improve.  Science shows you need to hit this disease hard and early for best disease control for the long haul!  Good luck and keep posting so we know how you are doing!

Thanks, Waddie, for the reply.  Yes, I have a wonderful RD.  She is very thorough and explains everything and listens, which is the most important part.  She was only going to keep me on the weekly Humira for a couple of months, to get me thru the worst of the wet, cold weather, which seems to cause me quite a bit of pain.  It's just that I am feeling so much better, I don't really want to cut my dosage.   And while I'm not sure she will do so, I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight as to how they handled it.
Thanks again.
