As some of you know, I had shoulder surgery on Feb. 16th., and now I'm in therapy.
I have these flex movements that I do with a empty Swiffer long handle duster. I have to lay down on the bed. My cat will go into the bedroom with me and get up on the bed with me. I lay down, she does too. Both of us are on our backs. I take the duster handle in my hands and start to lift it up, arms straight, elbows locked until I feel the pull in my shoulder. The cat is watching and soon she's has one paw going up and down like mom. When I have to do my side to side motion, she rolls over on her side and gets that paw going from side to side. She will stay with me until I'm done and then she gets up, put her paw on my hand, gives me this look, and then jumps off the bed. Sure makes my day!

That's great. What a pal. Such a great supporter.

How is your shoulder and the therapy going?

I have 2 cats and 2 dogs. Don't know if I could exist with out them.

Currently I am with no heat. My heater went out on Saturday and all my animals stay on the bed with me all night. I stay toasty warm through the night. Then freeze again in the morning. Repair man is coming tomorrow. Yipee!

LOL

Animals sure do think they are furry people sometimes!  I really believe there is so much truth behind the theory that people with pets live happier and longer lives. Sure, they can't cure what ails you, but they always love you in spite of it and all of your other "warts"!  I  have a little pooch that makes me smile as soon as I walk in the door.  When I get ready to lay down, shes right there, ready to snuggle.  I highly recommend that anyone with an illness like RA find a creature to love.  They always understand, never judge, and they bring a little ray of sunshine...usually just when we need it most.

You should get that Rehab Kitty on video and submit to Animal Planets Funniest Animals. I think you get 0 if they use it on the show!

HEERRREEE KITTY KITTY!

I have two dogs and they are quite the little characters.  It is amazing how much animals can lift your spirits and be there for you through the worst of times.  I believe love and happiness has great healing properties, and animals contribute greatly to that.  What a cute story.  Hope you feel better soon.

When first diagnosed, way back in 1986, we had recently bought a beautiful chinchilla kitten, who we named Sufi.  I then lost my job due to the RA, my husband was working the weird shifts that being in the catering trade brings, and I was suffering with one of my first bouts of RA depression as we'd also moved to an area where we knew no-one and I was lonely and scared.  One day I REALLY struggled out of bed, just to go to the bathroom and then looked down the stairs thinking, "I really can't make it down there today."  I then heard a little pitiful 'miaow'.  Looking downstairs, I saw Sufi with her paws on the first step, looking up at me and asking me to feed her.  She is about the only thing that kept me going in those first days.

So I agree, get a pet!  They are worth they're weight in RA drugs!!!

Keep smiling

Dawn xx

Marisa,  That is a GREAT STORY.  I am so glad you shared it.  My cats always make me laugh.  As all of you, I don't know what I would do without my animals.  We got this recliner loveseat that we decided my weimeraner cannot get on, he broke my other recliner footstool - anyway, hubby comes home and I am always on my old couch.  He says why aren't you on the recliner, I thought it was more comfortable for you and I tell him - I have to lay on couch to curl up with my Tyler.

Dawn - I love that - DEFINITELY WORTH THEIR WEIGHT IN RA DRUGS Marisa Sue,

Ahhh, that's so CUTE!

What a nice story! Keep up the good work!

Hope the therapy is working.

Good luck!
