side effects when decreasing Prednisone.. | Arthritis Information

I am on my way to decreasing and hopfully eliminating Prednisone for the first time. I just got this killer headache about 12 hrs after my dose of Prednisone where I went from 10mg to 7.5 mg. I want to know if anyone else has had HA as a side effect and also some abdominal pain. Nothing major, just bothersome. I increased my dose of MTX on Friday, but this is the first day I am feeling this. Also alot of fatigue. I had a busy day--running errands, grocery shopping, Brownie meeting, a Little League game. I guess maybe I feel so poopy b/c of the busy day

I would still like to know what I may be in for as I continue to decrease the prednisone.

UUUUHHHGGGGG!!!!I need help......and liposuction!

Good luck with it, hope those headaches ease off soon!

Thanks Moonie.  I have been down to 2.5 for about two weeks.  I am going to wait and try 1.5 in a week.  If the headaches are migraines - back up again but if I can handle them, I will try to stay there.  SO CLOSE AND YET SO FAR..............  Yes, I am impatient with the weight also but I am also impatient with PAIN.

Here in NC it comes on right after your local news on ABC at 6:30. Check your local listings.

I will check it out tonight Lovie.  Fell asleep yesterday during the news

I only had the HA the first night. I am going to decrease again on Sunday. I am determined to get off of the Pred. I wish it didnt cause all of the long term problems, and the fattness. Otherwise I would stay with it. It has helped me so much. Oh well.

I missed American Idol last night too. Forgot all about it!! Hate it when that happens.

Is Simon Cowell still judging on the show? What do you guys think of him?

I really like Simon.  He is honost and direct. I am a Taurus so I guess that is why I like his efficiency.

I think Paula tends to try to say something nice to everyone and not hurt anyones feelings. There is no reason to be nasty, but sometimes she tells people they were good even when they clearly sucked.

Randy---I just dont seem to share the same opinions of what is good or not good with him...I guess I am indifferent to him.But I swear I will scream if I have to hear him call one more person "Yo, Dog"

Coming off Prednisone was exceptionally difficult for me.  My feet and ankles became so swollen they resembled footballs, I coldn't wear ANY of my shoes and resorted to putting my hubbys shoes on to get to the doc.
So the tapering had to go more slowly after another increase to 10mg.  Prednisone was only effective for me at dosages of 15mg+  Needless to say, couldn't stay on that high a dose for a long period of time.  I had the 'moon face' buffalo hump, osteopenia, etc.

Hang in there, its very tough coming off Prednisone and hopefully you'll have an easier time of it than I did.  I also had sore muscles and mood swings (of course I'm also going through menopause...isn't THAT special?) so who knows if that was the Prednisone or something else.
