My intro...sorta | Arthritis Information

Thank you so much for the welcome and conversation. I was DX with  Cystic Rheumatoid Arthritis in 1991, seems so long ago  as I write it now. I have tried nearly all the meds but Kineret and Remicade. Enbrel worked best but as you all know, if you do not have insurance, you do not get to take it. I have applied several times for the Enbrel Assistance and after nearly 1 1/2 years I recieved the document to fill out to apply.

I do not work unfortunately because I do have a degree. I am in Michigan where the unemployment rate is the very highest. I help my mom out and my 17 yr old daughter lives with me. She was abused by her dad and stepmom, and many more things happened to her as well.

I take pain meds, but they rarely work anymore, my bones have been x-rayed and there is damage.  :(  I feel so old some day! Thus my name,,,,"bad bones" Given that I broke my wrist a couple years ago, I have to be careful and eat a lot of calcium  stuff but cannot take too many meds cause I had 2 ulcers.....oh , such a sad face!!!!!!! lol Better stop there.

My daughter is safe with me now and is healthy cept for a cold and that is all that matters to me at this point.

Hello to all and it is good to be back.

Welcome - Badbones.  I already know you are a great addition to the board.  Look forward to future posts.  I am glad you have your daughter.  Take care of each other.  Hey badbones, I'm in Michigan, too. I have insurance, but the way things
are going, you never know. Even with insurance, it's taking many, many
months to get any serious help. Maybe the warmer weather will help? (but
it's WET). I hope once the weather gets warmer & drier, we'll do better.Hi badbones and welcome.  I 'm glad you got approved for the Enbrel. It made a big difference with me although I had some site reactions for a while. Keeping insurance is what it's all about. I heard that medicare is now approving some kind of Enbrel assistance. That might help you down the road.  I'm in the same insurance situation. I'd like to retire or find another job that's less taxing but I ned my insurance to cover the meds.  Good luck and keep in touch.

Thank you all so much for the welcome. Unfortunately, I am not approved yet for the Enbrel, I only have the application. It took sooo long just to get the application.

I have gone nearly 2 years without any meds for the RA, I don't even think about the potential damage it has done. I try not to think about it. I lost a lot when my fiance' and I broke up, not only a home, a spouse, a friend, but all my medications, and my daughters' friends; but it was the best for myself in the long run.

Thanks again and hopefully this warmer weather will prove to be a big help.
