Vitamin D Levels | Arthritis Information

Recently my doctor did some lab work and she decided to check my Vitamin D level.  Its a good thing she did because it turns out its really low.  I did not get the exact numbers but requested a copy of the lab work.  My doctor put me on a prescription of Vitamin D.  I take it once a week.  I was recently diagnosed with Osteopenia, its the stage before Osteporosis, this is probably because of the severe Vitamin D defiency.   One of the symptoms of Vitamin D defencieny is bone pain and all over chronic pain.  I dont understand why my doctor did not test this before now, Lord only knows how long I have been low on Vitamin D.   Seems like such an easy fix too.

So, my message is.... don't forget to ask you doctor to check your vitamin D levels.....can't hurt.

Same thing happened to me. I had pain all over. Was beond exhausted.  It comes on very subtly, as the level lowers. The Rx Vitamin D that I got my doctor made all the difference in the world for me. I've finished with 2 months' worth of taking 50,000 IU once a week and now take 50,000 IU once monthly.

I've said it a dozen times, but it bears repeating:  do not take this without [1] having a blood test for it and [2] a doctor's Rx.

People who take drugs such as bisphosphanates or other types for osteoporosis should be especially careful when taking Vitamin D because it raises the calcium, and has an effect on the heart rhythm and parathyroid.
Me too, tinkster!!

you will feel a difference!!  Good luck.
