I live in North Central WVa and I have GOT to say I am sick of seeing snow.  We got about 12-15 inches over the weekend and I was without power since Saturday.  Now sitting here watching the local weather forecast and they are saying tomorrow that we are going to get between 7 and 12 more inches.   To top it off, I have to drive my dad to Pittsburgh on thursday for surgery on friday morning.

I wish I lived in Arizona!

(sorry just needed to whine a bit)
Pretty much how I feel about the torrents of rain this year. Same way here in Southwestern VA.  Snowplow woke me up.  Yet another day for the little one to stay home from school.  welcome to my world in PA!!  We got 28 inches on saturday and they are calling for about 24 more starting this afternoon....

I plan on keeping my butt firmly planted at home on wednesday..   not even going to make the attempt to go to work.... it is too much to travel over even with my all wheel drive vehicle.
My friend near DC got 34 inches, with another 12 predicted today. Makes our 10" forecast look puny!Once again here in the Chi-town 'burbs, the forecast and reality are two different things.  Kids were praying for a snow day today; all we got was a messy commute. I've had my fill too!  Take me some place tropical PLEASE!I'm in VA, and I am done with snow.  Never thought I would say that.  I love snow.   I am worse than my students when it is in the forecast.  But this winter has been extreme to say the least.  I would be nice to go more than 4 days without a Winter Storm Warning....

I did finish paying for the beach house...come on summer!
I guess I shouldn't be complaining.  We got about 8 inches last night and are expecting the same tonight. kweenb2010-02-09 12:14:53For those in Pa. what does the weather look like for Thursday and Friday?  I have to take my dad to the Pittsburgh VA hospital for surgery and would like to know if we would be better off in my Subaru or his truck.  I hate to drive the truck long distances because it's a 6 speed manual and it KILLS my ankle to drive it.  But the subaru doesn't have the ground clearance that the toyota does.  Plus, it's a legacy gt so I tend to hammer on the gas a bit with the all wheel drive and the turbo I'm a bit of a lead foot sometimes
I checked weatherunderground.com from about the WV line to Pittsburgh and it doesn't look too awful for Thurs and Fri. I definitely wouldn't lead-foot it - and would also carry emergency kit in which ever vehicle you choose to drive. Blankets, water, flashlight, food, sturdy shoes or boots. You can't be overly cautious when driving those roads in winter.bob.. I think that by Friday you should be good in the subaru.....  The worst of your commute will be closest to your home.. Pittsburgh is use to handling alot of snow... all the time...
Safe travel to you!!
Best of luck & prayers for your driving and your dad for his surgery. Please let us know how it goes.Apparently we had a bit of an earthquake here in northern Illinois early this morning in addition to our little snowstorm.  Never heard or felt a thing. bob, I can not believe the amount of snow and foul weather we have had in our neck of the woods. I am weather weary. I fly back to Florida on the 19th of this month, I try not to worry about the weather and my flight being delayed.
I like the idea of taking an emergency kit along in your vehichle when you travel this Friday.
We were among the hundreds that got stranded on WV turnpike for 22 hours. Never would I of dreamed that could happen, but it did. So be safe, take a few items that were suggested in the posts above.

We have a snow day today, the first of the season.  All in all it's been an easy winter snow-wise here in Michigan.  Bob~ remember to go slow and leave plenty of space between you and the car ahead of you.  I'll say a little prayer for a safe journey and a successful surgery.

Jas~ glad the Earth didn't swallow you up. :)
I dug the husband's car out of the snow this morning (he was threatening to take a 'snow day') and just finished digging my car out this afternoon.  The husband can't shovel because of his prior heart attack, and our plow guy didn't show up.  I'm officially sick of winter. Well Pittsburgh was a mess, like everywhere else, from the snow but we made it up and back in the truck.  The surgery went fairly well but the doc wasn't able to repair the entire extent of the damage.  He said the shoulder was pretty arthritic but that the ligament should heal nicely.
In the meantime though over the last week I seem to have taken a step backwards.  I'm hurting like hell but no swelling!  I think maybe I'm overdoing it with all my activity but that's another thread alltogether.

Thanks for the concern everyone.
Bob

Hey SnowOwl,

Tell your doctor to write "move to Bora Bora" on a prescription pad and maybe you can deduct  all the costs on your 1040.

If only. [Big sigh.]
We broke a record here in Baltimore.  After back to back blizzards we have a total of 49.2 inches of snow.  Bob glad you made it back and forth and your dad's surgery was somewhat successful- wish it was more so and that you weren't feeling so awful yourself. Feel better! And...snow is in the forcast for tomorrow.  The kids have had 2 days of school these last two weeks.  Two schools have had roofs collaspe due to the weight of snow.  I think the east coast has officially had its fill of winter.
We broke a record here in Baltimore.  After back to back blizzards we have a total of 49.2 inches of snow.
Oh wow, that's a lot of snow!  I guess I shouldn't complain about the 7 inches we are getting today, when most of what we got last week had time to melt.  But I have to admit that I'm getting really tired of all the snow this winter.
