After several wks of painful knees and recovering from shoulder surgery, I got good news. My new RA doc cut my MTX down to 2 tablets a wk and took me off the folic acid. All of the knee pain is from a type of gout that isn't "true gout". I'm taking Colchicine every AM. It's helping. Now I can sit down without all of the pain shooting down my leg and then shooting back up to my hip. It's so nice to lay down in bed without a pillow under my leg. Plus kitty can now lay on mom's lap.
Shoulder arthroscopy isn't fun. They puncture me in 3 places and then placed a medication catheter into the joint after surgery. I had to wear the catheter for 48 hrs and then take it out. I, also, had to wear a nerve stimulator for several days and when they removed the electrodes, I had this rash. Allergy to the adhesive! The pastive therapy chair is fun, never watched so much TV as my arm was moved for me for 6 hrs a day. Being the person I am, I worked on moving my arm without the chair and ,yes, there was alot of ouch, ouch with muscles cramps. So when I went to therapy on 3/8th., the therpy doc couldn't belive the range of motion I had so soon after surgery. I don't baby myself. The good part is that I only have to sit in that chair for a hour per day. Now the wall walking therapy will bring tears to my eyes but that too will get better as I work on that. I don't give into my arthritis, injuries, or whatever. I fight and look for a way to adapt.

MarisaGood for you. It looks like better days are ahead. I haven't had to face surgery but I certainly admire your spirit. I know it takes a lot of effort to make a little progress with this disease. I went from being able to do a stationary bike with no resistence and no incline for 2 minutes last year to 20 minutes this year. By the way my name is either lindak, or skinny. I'm so computer illiterate that I inadventently signed up twice and now either name appears.

Glad to hear of your progress Marisa. That's wonderful. Hopefully you'll be back to your old self again in no time.

Awesome.  You are a fighter and a reminder to keep working for your health.  I will never just lay down and die.  Well, maybe for an hour or two  Good to hear you are hanging in there! It is always good to hear some good news.  Keep it up! After feeling good for a few days, I've come down with this cold. My engery level is very low and I'm so dizzy. If it doesn't clear up by Monday, then I'll have to call the doc. to get some antibioics.
We're having weird weather for Southern Cal. It's sunny one minute and then it will rain with the sun out. Plus it's so cold out and all I have is a wall heater in my living room. We may get snow in the lower elevations, 1,000 ft. burrr! My poor girls, cats, are going crazy as the floor is cold and they can't lay in the sun.
My shoulder is sore and the rest of me is aching too. I have to do my shoulder therapy and it will be diffcult as I keep having to blow my nose. Oh well, at least I'll have a excuse to cut it short.
Hope that the rest of you are feeling okay and thanks for your input.
