I am glad Jasmierain didn't suffer any damage from this quake.
I dont live there any more but years and years ago, 72 or 73 I was working in a cafe when we had one, dishes fell off shelves etc.. they are rare but they happen.. A 3.8 would not stir me -- but then I lived in California for 20+ years.wow... what's with this crazy weather stuff happening!!  We've already gotten 3X the usual snow fall for Philly.....  global warming my bupkis.

I remember in 1970 we had one in Philly...... woke me up.. and my mom thought the heater was going to blow!!
It would have to be about 5.5 to get my attention. [I'm in CA.]
JR- I heard there was an earthquake this AM. Did you feel it? I think that's where you said you live.
It was centered out in north central Illinois, about 50 miles or so west of Chicago.  Relatives of ours who live near the epicenter felt it, but we didn't notice a thing at our house.
as  you all probably know I live in upstate NY directly south of Rochester about 100 miles.

Anyway about 15 years ago (May 25  1995) I was sitting in my kitchen talking on the phone to my sister when all of a sudden the house shook really hard. The hanging plants swayed around like crazy and I yelled, "You kids stop jumping around like that." My sister said, "no it isnt the kids a big truck just went by".. I pointed out we were 4 miles apart on different roads and it obviously wasnt a truck.

Turned out to be an earthquake along the Clarendon Lindon Fault.. which apparently passes right under our town..wheeee.

I just looked up that Attica 1995 quake and it was measured at 5.6. The CA earthquakes you hear about on the east coast news are generally 6.0 and greater, which are at least 4 times stronger than the one you felt.

I'm not trying to play one upsmanship.....but just imagine your NY earthquake...but at least 4 times stronger.
